Re: 4 great new releases!

Oh wow, these all look fantastic. I wasn't expecting to see the Corvette get a re-work, let alone seven different variations. Seeing as they now all come with FG textures (awesome addition, btw) is there any chance of the patch editing the one or two missions you see an Imperial corvette to have the...

Re: Nebulon-B Hangar

And of course, what are you doing with all the stuff you gutted out to make room? It can be safely assumed that there's not any wasted space on a ship like this. If it exists, it's there for a reason, and removing it is going to be detrimental to the operation of the ship. Which means you need to m...

Re: New effects

Sorry, but I'm not keen at all on the new explosions, there isn't any oranges or yellows you associate with fire or an explosion, just search google for "star wars explosion" you'll get the general idea :) The new explosions are just different shades of red/pink, to me they look more like a firewor...

Re: Assault Gunboat or Star Wing

I'm personally of the view that, at least as far as the XWAUpgrade pack goes, all the names and descriptions should be left as they are in the base game (barring a few tweaks here and there) anyway. In this specific case, I'd definitely leave it as Assault Gunboat. If only because it's what they are...

Re: New Release: Pirate Ship Yard

Beautiful work, DTM. I'm amazed at how much extra detail you've been able to cram in here. The original TG opt was probably one of the most basic in the game, it's great to see it get the attention it deserves. I'm going to fire up the 'Rescue Aeron' mission some time over the weekend and see it in ...

Re: The last day of Alderaan (WIP)

Oh. My. God. This looks amazing DTM! I can barely even recognise it's XWA under all that. I forget the terminology, but are you using that 'plugin' technique Jeremy_fa came up with to get the hangar looking like that, or have you just swapped the opts in the various slots the way TFTC did it? I'm ge...

So worth the wait. It's beautiful. I might have to make some more Z-95 missions just to fly it more, I don't think skirmishes and the two campaign missions are going to cut it.

Young Wedge Antilles Campaign, anyone?

Re: New Opt's by Gammatron

As someone who has just got into Fantasy Flight's X-wing Miniatures, I love that Dagger Squadron /E2 B-Wing. Makes me think of the Nera Dantels / Weapons Officer / far too many points spent an ordnance combo I ran once. It's also made me realise that for years I've missed the fact the B-Wing pilot i...

Re: XWAUCPv1.3 available, now supports the steam version!

Is DTMSB referring to DTM's high res backdrop patch? If so, it should be included in v1.3 of the XWAU and installed as part of that. Which would be why it's telling you it's already installed when you and try and run the now obsolete separate file. Have you tried flying a campaign mission? You'll pr...

Re: Opinions needed! new name for an old ship

Love the new look, much more of a badass, heavy hitting weapons platform now. My first thought on looking at the 2 large wing option was that looked quite a lot like a hovering bird of prey, so I was thinking of something like Kestrel, or Sparrowhawk for the name. Of course, a lot of raptors are alr...

Re: Reshade for X-wing Alliance

Hey, so I'm interested in giving this a go but I seem to be encountering an error on loading into the game. I get a big, long, flickering block of red error text. From what I can gather from the error messages, and from rooting around in the reshade directory, it looks like the .fx file is trying to...

Re: Still not dead! Presenting the ATR-6

Little late, but wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise. It's a really beautiful opt, GT. The ATR's always been one of my favourite ship designs in XWA, and it's great to see it finally done some XWAU justice. Made me fire up XWA for the first time in a long while when I saw it had been rele...

Huge respect for this, DS. From what you initially posted about the Steam version, I can't imagine coming up with a workaround was an easy job. With Steam being the huge platform it is, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who'll really appreciate your work bringing XWAU to Steam, and hopefull...

Re: XWAUCPv1.2 GOG widescreen cockpit strecthed?

You're comparing two different things here. XWAU includes new cockpits for all flyable ships. The first image you posted is of the XWAU designed cockpit, the second image is of the stock TG cockpit. They are different 3D models, and different textures. There is no stretching going on here, that is j...

Re: WIP: early version of the X-Wing

Analyzing all aviable physical models and pictures, I understand that it's very similar to Booster Terrik's heavily modified Z-95 Headhunter equipped with X-wing-style S-foils (Rogue Squadron: The Phantom Affair). I suppose that the first X-Wing demonstration version could have been created by the ...

Re: What happened to the ISD I model?

Not quite what trippin_ was asking, Bman. There were two versions of the ISD model, the original - which had the square-ish comms array on top of the bridge upright, as in ANH - and an ESB version that had the array 'down'. Most people, myself included, used the ANH version as the ISD-I and the ESB ...

XWA on Good Old Games

Hey guys. So it's been a while. Just stopping in because I hadn't seen this bit of news posted. X-Wing Alliance is now available as a digital download, for the first time ever, on gog.com. Given the quality of support most games on GOG get, this is pretty exciting news for the future of XWA. http://...
