Re: 4 great new releases!

It's been a while since I've had any X-wing games installed but good to see the upgrades still being released, looking great!

Re: X-Wing Vs Tie on Win 7 Pro x64... to begin with.

You should have a ..\Support\Patch\ in the folder you created, in there there should be 18 folders with random names. If this isn't there then looks like the support files aren't installed properly. Have you checked this part of the instructions? !!! Obligatory: Execute NiftyZip on the Patch file: n...

Re: X-Wing Vs Tie on Win 7 Pro x64... to begin with.

In relation to your original post I wasn't sure where you are struggling to get the games to run, the MSI are there if you can't get the installers on the CDs to work. If you can install them okay then you don't need the MSI installers. If you can install them okay off CD but can't get the game to r...

Re: X-Wing Vs Tie on Win 7 Pro x64... to begin with.

With the original CDs you can build MSI installers (I'm guessing you probably used these for X-Wing Alliance?) from this site here. I've had it working on my system which is the same as yours but I don't remember having to hack the exe's. I could be wrong though about that as it's been a while.

Re: Download link not working

There's some issues with using the pack with the GoG version of the game at the moment so you'll need to wait until they've been fixed. Keep an eye on this thread.

Re: Direct3D 11

I can confirm this as well as I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers 14.4 (Radeon HD 7850) on Windows 7 64-bit and everything works fine bar the side bars at 1920x1080 resolution. Saying that though I haven't tried the later versions of the dll but I'll try again and see what it's like. Thanks Jeremy...

Re: XWAUCPv1.0 Needs Original Disc?

Wouldn't it be better to make things like XWA available to everyone? Especially in the context of foreign markets - without easy digital duplication XWA could be totally lost to time. The disc protection is there to respect the copyright as said above and not for the love of DRM. XWAU, DS or anyone...

Re: Where is everyone?

I'm still visiting regularly and I have a desire to do an XWA campaign but I'm finding it difficult to get started. :( Hey VPR, Here's a mission template that I created so you can fly inside a SSD and destroy parked ties. That could be the finally, or even the beginning, or a new campaign. Blowing ...

Re: Recover campaign in balance of power

You can try editing the .lst files in the game directory under ...\LucasArts\XwingTie\BalanceOfPower\TRAIN Back the files up first and your pilot file (just to be safe). When you open it up with a text editor such as notepad you should see the campaign missions look like this: [Rebel Campaign Missio...

Re: XWA issues on win 7 x64

Hmm, changing the executable settings got rid of the pixelation for me in both XvT and XWA. I suppose you could try running my executable if your monitor supports the hacked resolution I'm running at? Also what do you mean by setting up the video drivers to run JKA?

Re: XWA issues on win 7 x64

Have you tried changing the compatibility settings on the executable itself? Go to the X-Wing Alliance program directory and set the following for alliance.exe Run in compatibility mode: Windows XP (service pack 3) Disable: visual themes, desktop compression and display scaling. Also check run in ad...

Re: INFO: Common graphic problems with XWA

Yeah this seems to have fixed the corruption I was getting in XvT/BoP when firing at or selecting targets directly in front of planet bitmaps. XWA hasn't shown this problem for me so far and I'm on a Radeon 5770 as well.

Re: How do I instally XWA on Win7 64?

I installed both but obviously BoP overwrites the XvT entry I guess. On another note I'd been getting really sloppy framerates during gameplay so messing around with the compatibility tab and ticking the following options seemed to clear it up. Disable visual themes Disable desktop composition Disab...

Re: XvT Balance of Power - Final Imperial Mission Rage

How close are you releasing them?

Best thing to do is to attack the Dreadnaughts from the rear at point blank range as like Corvettes they have a massive blindspot there, just watch the engine wash from them and the SSD which is massive so keep your shields double charged.

On my Win7 install (using Markus' installers) they're in HKCU but now there's only a single value relating the MSI, and none of the normal values even after first run. Is this just a side effect of the installer ... Seems to be so, I only have MsiShortcutsInstalled DWord value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\...

Re: Legality?

Well no ones been in trouble with LucasArts for the last twelve years using them, so I wouldn't worry about it at all. The worst that will happen is that they'll contact you and ask you to take down your work before they'll consider legal action. Only if you're making money from it will it land you ...

Re: How do I instally XWA on Win7 64?

The guide is a little miss leading if not totally clear at first I found when doing the XvT installers. All the tools and components are packaged in the MSI you downloaded including the zip utility (for XvT & BoP installs), this is the bit I found not very clear in the guide. You don't need to bothe...

As far as I've ever known you can only bank, pitch and roll in any of the X-wing series games. There's never been a yaw axis available?

You'll also need to follow the sticked thread (common graphics problems) at the top of this sub-forum after install to solve the corruption you'll most likely get.

Allied no longer needs registering just go to his site here and get the latest version, try editing the mission with that. I can't see why the problems you mention should not be easily fixable if you know how the mission should work. :)

96 ships per region. mission Limits : Beyond certain limits the mission will not work. The ships/sector limit of 96 is the most important one to keep in mind as if you try to have too many ships onscreen at the same time the XWA will simply delay arrivals until there is room for the new ships as the...

Joysticks are hardly expensive these days, you can get a cheap Saitek Cyborg or Logitec stick for peanuts if you look around and they'll do the job well enough.
