Re: Original X-Wing engine rebuilt project

The one thing I miss in TIE Fighter is having all those screens (damage, z key threat camera, message log, etc.) as one or more actual screens in the cockpit around you instead of as separate screens. For that reason alone this looks intriguing :P .

"Resuming mission" bug

There's probably a simple explanation for this, but in the mission I'm making my wingmen are set to escort me, the flight leader, and I order them to form on me to ensure they stay close to me and don't go off engaging enemy fighters, and sometimes when I tell them to resume mission, they just end u...

An indie dev would never get a Star Wars license, though, so it would also be an indie setting. Which could be fine, I guess. Maybe Starfighter Inc. will have some of those features.
If it was a freeware project, I doubt anyone would care.

Untargettable missiles?

Okay, so MXVTED allows you to set "targetability" of ships so that you for example can't target a given ship at all. Is there any way to toggle this for concussion missiles? Would be an interesting challenge to have to locate where a missile was coming from for then to have to blast or dodge it, rat...

Re: Community project: AlliED "unknowns" repository

For whoever knows, does the "no cargo pods" affect anything? I picture for example a Container Transport without containers. Does it change how some of the ships end up appearing?

And yes, YOGEME does look really promising. Will probably use it in tandem with AlliED in the future.

Re: Why there hasn't been any Star Wars simulator for 16 years

My fear is that if some AAA dev does it today, it will be dumbed down for the "too complicated!!1" crowd. I think it would better be handled by some indie team, to be honest, like when a team of X-Com aficionados made Xenonauts. If it was made to be compatible somewhat with .tie mission files, that ...

Re: Fresh New Pilot Dialogue for XWA

Dunno why this hasn't gotten any replies, but I'll check it out :) . Should be helpful for anyone making a campaign where you play as a pirate, civilian pilot, or what have you. Personally, I'm happy with any replacement of the undisciplined and often downright whiny voice lines in the original XWA,...

Re: And another one done! Presenting the Rebel Platform

I too am curious as to why you replaced the model. It looks awesome, but I always liked the original design, so maybe I'd have preferred to have it updated and have this new model be added as a separate station. Not to diss your work, mind, it look great! If your happy with the default design, simp...

Re: And another one done! Presenting the Rebel Platform

The Starfighter evaluation mission seems broken. The rebel medium transports ram the station to death since they're not stationary, and the TIE fighters that are supposed to be right behind you when you reach region 2 don't want to seem to show up at all. I too am curious as to why you replaced the ...

I can't express enough how awesome it is that you guys are still going strong after so many years, despite the tiny community for this game.

Not to suck up, but have you considered getting yourselves a Patreon? You deserve one.

Correction, seems that doesn't work too well. I suppose you could still have it hyper out immediately after parking.

Re: Long-running X-wing project needs a team

I'll be releasing the XvT build of this project regardless of whether an XWA production ever comes to fruition. :) XvT/BoP was a good game. It got some bad rep, but it had a good atmosphere and I had lots and lots of fun with it. Edit: you know, voice talents is something you can get from other sou...

Re: Do you 'tweak' missions?

Changed the Falcon's name from M. Falcon to Gold Leader. I did that too, also changed the designation to YT-1300. I mean, seriously, "FALC M. Falcon"? wut. Also changed a lot of other designations (X/W to T-65c, A-Wing to RZ-1, Y-wing to BTL, CRV to RC90 etc.), but I suppose that's sort of off-topi...

Re: Long-running X-wing project needs a team

To be honest, I think the smartest thing you can do is simply release your project for XvT. 144 missions is a lot of content to convert even with a dedicated team, and this looks like a professional, exciting project that I would love to try out. So my advice, if I may, is make a website/blog, final...

Re: Long-running X-wing project needs a team

I've expanded XvT to accommodate twice as many craft as the stock game could handle.
You couldn't work similar magic with XWA? 192 ships in one region would be awesome :P .

Re: Long-running X-wing project needs a team

Hmmm. I'm in the middle of my own project currently, but I suppose it can't hurt to work on some missions for your project, too. I like how you're making cap ship engagements, and I agree that XWA has its shortcomings (like the ridiculous ability of cap ships to shoot down warheads -- even starfight...
