Well since I saw Spyders T70 X-Wing and now with DTM's Concept X-Wing I thought I had better update the Tight Fighter to reflect the new ones in The Force Awakens.

So here are a few previews of the First Order Tie Fighter

And the First Order Special Forces Tie Fighter

Just waiting for a better image of the back end of the standard First Order Tie Fighter to figure out where the engines are? From the image below it looks as though the engines are above and below the window at the back of the craft
ans you can sort of see below, but this might be because its just a image of a die cast toy from the disney store

compared to the old Tie Fighter as seen here

I'll probably have to wait till next month for some more image to be released before I can finish them

**** EDIT **** images removed

I've got a shot from the trailer where an X-wing is diving on a TIE from above, and you can clearly see that the engine glow is oriented vertically in the First Order TIEs.

I love those TIE Fighters. Finally some Imperial love :D

As for the engines, I think this is the image Saxman was referring to?

That's it. There's certainly a BIG problem with the configuration, though, in that it puts the upper engine in the way of the cockpit access hatch.

Thanks I thought I was right, and Sax your right they would be in the way, unless the engine gubbings are still where it originally was and they have just run pipes to the new positioning, another thought do we actually know what an Ion Engine looks like and how big it is?

Tried looking at the images of the cross-section Tie Fighters, but they don't actually show you much :)

Fantastic work DS, can't wait to dogfight your tie's with the T70 :)
From what I understand the SF tie has a rearfacing gunner, will the opt have a turret hardpoint?

Current Ion Engines are really small, I dont see why they moved though, they made better sence where they were before.
But, since an ion engine is simply an ionised plasma ejected out the back usually through an electrified grid the whole thing can be thought of as an old CRT monitor. At least, a CRT contains most of the elements of an ion engine, Electron Guns, Magnetic feilds. screen. Replace the screen with a mesh grid and one of the guns with a stream of positivly charged xenon.

Of course, TIE Fighters can fly in an atmosphere so they have much more powerfull engins than that we have today.

Great work! I can't wait to get these! =)

Also, I realize it's non-canon, but it would also be cool to see a First Order TIE Interceptor. I'm a little sad we haven't seen any squints show up in any TFA material... =(

Would it also be possible to modify the TIE Bomber opt into the TIE Boarding Craft from ESB and the ANH concept art? It seems to be a lighter color and has the bomb pod removed. I tried recoloring it myself for my own personal use but for some reason it shows up at purple ingame.
