I was not able to find out if the Tie Shuttle was discussed here before:

Lucasfilm/Disney should honestly just start hiring fans to do their research. We're SO much better at it.

They have access to all the original archives, they probably know things we don't.

And yet they still get stuff wrong.

TIE/sh VIP shuttle is essentially a TIE/sa bomber without the warhead launchers.
It also has more basic sensor systems since it's not designed to be deployed in battle.

I don't understand why Captain Lorth Needa used such a trivial craft to travel from ISDII Avenger to SSD Executor.
The Empire owns a huge variety of better crafts: Gamma-class assault shuttles, GAT-12 Skipray Blastboats, Gamma-class ATR-6 assault transports...

I‘d say because he simply wanted to travel from one destroyer to another. With the imperial fleet being in no immediate danger that kinda seems like a sound decision to me. Also, him being a ‚mere‘ captain, who in addition was going to confess a screwup, taking a Lambda Shuttle would be somewhat out of line ...

Simply, because when ESB was shot, none of the transports mentioned above had yet been designed ....
even the Lamda Shuttle was introduced only with the third movie. Today we may see the Lamda in ESB, but the scene was added with the new edition.

Speaking Nerd language: ...sure because TIE shuttle was faster in take off and landing procedures. The perfect transport to connect the starships of the fleet... :p
