Thanks to Jeremy, today we are no longer tied to a choice between two colors for the lasers of our spaceships.
I would like to ask the community's contribution, to understand the colors of the weapons, according to the official Star Wars canon.
What color do the separatist's heavy weapons have? And the light weapons? What color the laser of the First Order? Are there craft in XWA that should have special colors of the weapons...? ....?

DTM..... I've been wondering about this for 40 years... ( don't laugh....) I know in the original Star Wars Novel back in 1977 when I read it... when the imperial stormtroopers and Darth Vader boarded the Tantive IV.. their hand held weapons consist of Red..., Green..., Blue..., and even White..... laser fire. But back on topic.. I've found this, I hope it would answer the question you seek....

AFAIK depend mostly on the equipment.
So, we know that a star destroyer, even if now possessed by the New republic, would still use green lasers and not switch to red unless the cannons are switched to another model
Best example of such craft customisation (in EU, I know, but the new canon sucks IMO so..) would be the Firespray. From what we know, the Firespray patrol craft seems to use green laser stock, but the Slave-1 use Red lasers(either because it was the original prototype in the EU or because Jango Fett replaced them), and the Andrasta use yellow lasers(we can wager that Emon replaced the canons)
So it would not be farfetched for a modified ship to switch color and sound

Hi DTM, CIS at least in the movies generally used red lasers like the Rebellion. The Geonosians (s/p?) seemed to use purple lasers (remember when Dukoo was being escorted by the two pod fighters being chased by Anakin and Kenobi in the LATT Gunship over the desert before they the dueled. See AOTC). I think you even made this model in the past.
The First Order still use standard Imperial Green, but seems to me the inner core is more hot white than the traditional hot yellow core as in the classic trilogy like ESB and ROTJ. Blue & green was for old Republic like the Venators, and probably for local government system security forces ... perhaps like the Planetary Fighter, R-41 Starchaser, and another starfighter or two. I"ll post some interesting things in a new thread later.

For blue, the republic seemed to use blue only for personal and ground weapons. For ship-mounted weapons it was usually green

There's a discrepancy between the films and TCW for Republic ships. In the movies they either seem to shoot red or green, whereas in TCW they seem to be blue.

Um, in ROTS the venators' cannons fired blue. This is best visible in the shot where one of them is exchanging broadside with the Invisible Hand.

You're right actually. And that tells you how long it's been since I watched the prequels
