"...The Black Duke has returned to the Tolian sector to redeem himself: no Imperial ship escapes the Death Shadow..."
"Romin" is a fan made legend by DTM

After the Romin civil war, four Jedi Knights abandoned the Jedi Order and swore to protect the ancient kingdom. They were known as the Dukes of Romin, governors of the four regions, reunited under the guidance of the young empress Aria. Peace seemed restored, but the clone war was beginning.

To save her kingdom from a new conflict, the empress declared her neutrality and isolated herself from the rest of the galaxy. The Romin fleet was mobilized to ensure the blockade of the four regions: only a few were allowed access to the Romin space. The ships attempting to enter were intercepted and destroyed by the Astro starships, the fearsome subspace cruisers.

Many separatist battleships were destroyed in a vain attempt to pass through the invisible Romin blockade. Count Douku decided to play the deception card: the Black Duke was made to believe that the protectors of Romin were under the influence of the Jedi Council. He sailed with the flagship "HMS Guardian" one last time, to attack the Romin block and allow the Separtist fleet to reach the capital.

The former padawan of the Black Duke predicted the move of his Master and alerted the commanders of the Astro cruisers. The Romin blockade opened fire on the great Katana class battleship. The clash was on par: a small fleet of Astro against the great flagship of the Black Duke.

Image

The padawan was in vain asking the Black Duke to cease fire, but the Master's mind was under the influence of the dark side. The Astro cannons could not reach the "HMS Guardian". Two Romin commanders decided to attempt a direct attack on the big starship.

Image

The first Astro was destroyed by the cannons of the Katana, but the second managed to maneuver in the subspace, to approach the battle ship and ram.

Image

The "HMS Guardian" suffered catastrophic damage. The crew lost control of the ship, which remained adrift, with overloaded subspace generators.

Image

The valiant crew of the Black Duke desperately tried to recover the ship, but the situation quickly crashed: in a short time the ship was surrounded by subspace discharges and the vessel disappeared in a dazzling light. No crew member of the "HMS Guardian" was ever found. The wreck had sunk in the subspace.

Image

The years passed and the clone war ended. The Romin isolation was maintained even after the advent of the Galactic Empire. Princess Aria was accused by Palpatine of giving refuge to the Jedi fugitives. The invasion of the Romin territories began: the Astro block was successful, but only until the Empire deployed the new Tycon battle stations and the Imperial Star Destroyers.

Image

The invasion war quickly turned to the Galactic Empire: the Romin fleet had to retreat to defend the capital, leaving the four regions under imperial control.

Image

When the end of the Romin seemed near, the unimaginable happened: the Black Duke and his old starship emerged from the subspace, to protect the Romin. In search of redemption, the old rebuilt battleship was invincible. The imperials called it "Death Shadow".

Image

What really happened to the "HMS Guardian"? Nobody knows. Legend has it that the crew fought for more than a year in subspace, before returning to our dimension. The ship was rebuilt by the crew at an old abandoned mining station. The "Death Shadow" was designed to incite terror to her enemies.

Image

Unfortunately, subspace generators had irreparably altered the molecular status of the crew. The men of the old battleship could only survive aboard the "Death Shadow". If they had left the vessel for more than a few hours, they would slowly return to subspace, fading away like ghosts. Thanks to the jedi skills, the Black Duke became able to control the molecules of his body: he could leave the ship, and appear as a ghost in the eyes of his enemies.

Now the Death Shadow haunts the Tolian system, between the Romin space and the core of the galaxy. No passage is allowed to any imperial starship.

The OPT file of the "Death Shadow" will be available soon at the MTD Industries site...

It's like the Andromeda Ascendant had a love child with a Vorlon cruiser...

This vaguely reminds me of your Arcadia ship.

I'm curious where this seemingly out of nowhere plot is going...

As an aside I'm wondering if engine glows can be utilized somehow to add an ethereal glow surrounding the ship. And/or what would happen if you made the entire model semi-translucent.
