Hi I"m Asara, So I was kinda directed here not for X-wing alliance ,but to ask something, but first a little about myself, I'm a very old time star wars fan my first movie would be A NEW Hope From the special edition ever since then i've liked Star wars and played many Star wars games from the orginal battle front games to jedi acadmy and the first dark forces. So yeah, I dunno where to ask my question since it's not related to the game.... :kopfwand:

Also i made another account because i must have messed up my e-mail on the first one, if an admin or moderator would delete my other account "Asara Dragon" that'd be much appreciated.

You haven‘t asked your question yet.

Oh and believe me, having started with the Special Edition films doesn‘t make you a very old time SW fan, that‘s a midway milestone XD

Well I dunno if anyone wanted to hear it, anyway

So i found this lambda shuttle model for Garry's mod and I wanted to know if someone could add the troop compartment to it, again this is for Garry's mod and not X-wing so, that's why I didn't ask anywhere else.

Well until the question was posted there was no way to determine its relevance now, was there. Now that it’s been asked and from what I know about the folks around here I’m afraid you may not find what you‘re looking for.

Any Garry‘s Mod modders around here with way too much time on their hands feel free to correct me!

this is the model btw. I don't care if the bay is detailed or not at this point.

Did you consider asking the folks over there?

I mean this place is mainly about XWA, asking here is like going to KFC and ordering a Whopper....

I did, and the guy who made is is like "Those pictures aren't canon."

I know that's what I TOLD the guy who requested i try here...

Well I think the bay is visible from the cockpit, so if anyone ever updates the cockpit for the Lambda, they might do the bay as well. But more likely they'll just put a closed door there. Also, I am not sure if there are any detailed canon images of the bay. I think the Force Commander intro shows the interior of a Sentinel, though. And of course now with Rogue One, we can see the interior of that shuttle (Zeta-class). It wouldn't surprise me if some day someone from this community did a fully-detailed Lambda, but I doubt there are any immediate plans.

Not really good details on the bay but there is one there... also this model has only four seats in the cockpit and not 6 like most picture show so the model may also be out of scale a little ,but eh.

At this time I have no plans or interest on installing a passenger bay since I have other projects I am currently on hold that I would rather be working on, I'm not revisiting older projects unless something needs fixed or I come around to QA or feature updates in my dev cycle. As much as it would be interesting to have a full interior I personally do not feel like making one from scratch, and I'm not aware of any available to use freely that would save me time in the process either. Also from where the pilot seat is located you would not be able to see it anyways without changing your POV via a hook or hard coordinate change.

Get me permission to use somebody's existing files and the files themselves so I can look at them at the very least, I would at least consider the available options then; but even so I have no plans on updating at this time since the shuttle's in a good place for our community at this time. If this is for another game I have no experience with or use for, then I also have no incentive to modify anything either; sorry.

The interior scale of the Lambda is correct as it is scaled to the viewport in the model in the most sensible way possible in addition to human proportions relative to the craft. Bear in mind this is as close to canon as we're going to get here as source images from the movies as well as concept art and technical manuals are extremely limited for the interior of this craft; most of what is available is fan speculation.
The space seats 4 due to not wanting to clutter the cockpit, and in the movies it's not apparent how many actual seats there are located there. If you apply logic further you have Pilot, Copilot, com specialist, and sensor operator, or perhaps two passenger jumpseats that fill no other purpose instead; most large airplanes also only have two additional seats in the cockpit for crew and as this is a civilian and military personnel shuttle primarily the logic would suggest this limitation.

And my personal opinion regarding "canon" is I don't give a flying f*ck if the divergence makes sense or is necessary for functionality sake relative to XWA; the current canon as presented is trash and LFL is looking at majorly retconning canon yet again so who gives a damn anymore? Creative license is necessary where official sources either don't exist or are vague enough to require improvisation.

Actually it is fairly clear. On the left (screen right) you have Han, Luke, and 3PO, all clearly seated. On the right are Chewie, Leia (both seated), and R2 (who I hope we can agree is not seated). So in the film it had space for three rows of seats, with five actual seats. (The last row could be explained to be jumper seats, conveniently allowing 3PO to be seated while allowing space for R2, but it's doubtful they'd have built such a detail into the set.)

Should that be taken as gospel? Movies in general are usually pretty bad about fitting their interior sets into the exterior sets & models, and RotJ was pretty terrible at it. So sticking with four seats for the sake of consistence of scale (and not redoing what's already done) sounds entirely reasonable to me.

Blah blah blah......
@Driftwood - You seem to have forgotten who actually made the Lambda Shuttle, it was I that allowed you to include the cockpit, I could have soon put my foot down and said NO! So revisiting older projects as you put it, isn't exactly up to you to begin with as your not the actual author, at most your an addition!

@Darksaber I was going to address this, and frankly got side tracked and forgot so I'm glad you mentioned it, but that is actually a huge consideration for even prospectively making further changes on it as you would of course have to approve, never mind be in the mood to update the installer. Or otherwise come up with a completely different model, which would require even more work on something that I think we both agree doesnt need done at all.

All of which if were theoretically okay with you, I couldn't be bothered is all I'm trying to say.

That's weird, I thought I posted: Keiran, that is the cockpit you are thinking of, not the bay.

Ooooh my, sounds like Darksaber has something up his sleeve!

Umm, yeah, because that's what Driftwood was referring to when he was talking about 4 seats.
