Hello everyone, I am finally releasing the NJO Project's The Invasion Begins for anyone interested in the project. The mod includes the work of 34 voice actors playing 61 roles and features Richard Brookes, Amy Ferrell, Seth Marty, and Cass McPhee. Players can download the mod at http://www.njoproject.com/ along with standalone versions of the game's cutscenes, several behind-the-scenes documents and unimplemented voice work for the curious.

The final version of The Invasion Begins tells an in-depth story about Bryon Tomri, who finds himself entangled in the beginning months of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the Star Wars galaxy, and must choose between duty and his friends. The mod includes 5 missions, 19 skirmish missions that are based on the originally planned 16 missions for the mod, 5 cutscenes, a full voice cast, voiced briefings, new music, and new e-mail messages tailored specifically to the campaign.

The mod also supports multiplayer gaming between users who have The Invasion Begins installed, allowing players to take control of the coralskipper and Chiss claw fighter in head to head combat for the first time.

Apparently it doesn't work with the DSUCP, which means I wont be able to play this unfortunately.

Thanks, Chris! Thanks for releasing what you have even if it wasn't what you wanted- I always hate to see mods die without releasing their stuff. :)

Kampher, just uninstall the UCP and reinstall it after playing? Not hard... :)

Has someone installed it successful on a german version?

Kampher, rename your X-Wing Alliance directory to something else, then install a vanilla version of XWA and install NJO over the top of it. Rename the DSUCP folder back to X-WingAlliance whenever you want to play that version.

Thanks, Crespin.

Dragon, yeah that's an issue. If what I remember about the non-english versions is correct, I think the patch executable is seeing your XWA.Tab file and is freaking out because your copy of X-Wing Alliance doesn't match exactly with the english version. Try deleting XWA.tab from your vanilla installation maybe?

Wow, I'm surprised. I thought it would have some problems with the mission files being different or something. Glad it works. I'll put a note on the site once my desktop machine gets back up and running that users with international versions of the games should do this.

It was a bit more, than you said.

The Installer said that the following files are not correct:

Ace Azzameen0.PLT
Alliance (X-Wing Alliance Launcher)
CONFIG.CFG
CREDITS.txt
DeIsL1.isu
XWA.TAB
(I think all files with german text in it)

I deleted them, and the installer works.
After the installation i copied back the Alliance file (X-Wing Alliance Launcher) and it worked.
The only problem is, that sometimes when i enter another room, the screen becomes black, but clicking with the mouse brings you back to the game. Don't now if or how that can be fixed.

EDIT:
Ok, just noticed that the cutscenes don't work, just sound no picture.

Glad you decided to release what you had Chris. :)
Took a look at your extras download. Bit like the Directors Cut behind the scenes. :P A lot of work went into it and planned so at least people can enjoy it while the game lasts.

Thanks Ace. :)

Yeah, I wanted people to know that no, we really didn't half-ass it. Our mouths were just too big for our proverbial stomachs. :P The script should prove most enlightening.

I too had the black screen problem. By changing the screen res to 800 * 600 it now works....but with other problems. when in flight, everything but the backdrop disappears randomly. Lasers, ships, all gone. Any one find a fix for this? Btw, this mod looks incredible.

Wow that's really odd. Are you sure that's a problem with the mod and not the game? Usually the backdrop disappears but nothing else if the backdrop is too large.

Upon further research, it appears to be an nvidia issue. XWA does not play well with cards in the 8 series. I must say this bummed me out. I will have to see if I can find an older computer to play it on. Anyways, thanks for releasing this!
