Hi All, just joined. I played XWA when it first came out in the 90s and just got the GOG updated digital copy. I applied the latest XWAU craft update and as well as xwahacker-qt.exe to adjust my screen resolution. The issue I am having is that only a section of my screen shows the denser star field. See photo attached. Not sure what I did wrong but tell me what I need to provide information wise in order for you to help me out. Much thanks and many thanks for these ship mods!!!

Thanks I may try this but how will that help since this upgrade is primarily to allow the Steam version to work with the upgrade?

Just a thought!
Anyhow why are you messing about changing the settings when the XWAUCP already apply the settings to work with the new backdrops?
You might have changed the resolution but you have also changed the backdrop scaling factor from 256.0f to 128.0f to 256.0f to 32.0f so basically you've messed it up yourself
More info is needed though, like exactly what you did, would help! Also what OS do you have?

DS ... i didn't adjust the scaling factors. I have no idea what they do so I did not touch them. I am running Win7.0 64 bit.
I used xwahacker-qt to change my 1600x1200 resolution to 1920x1200

If I use XWAUCP 1.3 will it overwrite the changes that were made previously?

No v1.3 won't overwrite it, it will ask you to uninstall v1.2 then you can install v1.3
You must have changed the FOV the default is 86.30 yours is set at 100.28
Default settings 1600x1200 Changed Settings 1920x1200 If you set the FOV back to 86.30 the Backdrop should be OK

I first ran the game on the default settings including the FOV you posted, things )cockpit, info windows looked a little distorted and the starfield was not displaying fullscreen then. I changed the FOV based on another thread in this forum and it addressed that distorted cockpit and data windows issue but the starfield still only filled a small portion. The star field only appears dense when there is another graphic present such as a nebula or planet or some other feature, the rest of the screen shows the same sparse field. So in other words the FOV has no effect on the starfield. Just to be sure I switched it back and sure enough, no improvement.

Hi,
Do you use an "XWA.TAB"?
Have you tried to restore the good scaling factor (128.0f)?

OKay so what I did was uninstall XWAUCPv1.2 and restarted the game, would not load when entering the hanger so just reinstalled GOG version and ran it, worked fine. Reinstalled XWAUCPv1.2 and now the Starfield fills the whole screen! yeehaw! Next step is to install xwahacker screen resolution hack so I can run 1600x1200 as 1920x1200. Wish me luck!

Ran XWAhacker and set 1600x1200 to run at 1920x1200 with an FOV of 100.28 ... no issues everything displays correctly.
Thanks everyone!
