Steam version problem. Game will not launch/run

Hi, excellent work with this amazing patch for XWA Steam version however I cannot get the game to launch after patching the Steam version on my Nvidia desktop machine. I have successfully patched and run it on my ATI gaming laptop.

On my Nvidia desktop PC fter installation, I have tried to launch the game with and without the launcher however it doesn't even appear to try and run the game. If I use the launcher it disappears after I click "Play X-Wing ALliance" and nothing happens. There is no executable running in Task Manager either.

Does anyone know if I can find more information about the nature of the failure via Windows logs?
Any ideas about what else I could try to debug?
