I remember hearing that XWA had a bug in it that meant that it didn't like nvida based video cards, but what i want to know is this. does performance still increace with a faster nvida based video card relative to a slower one. (e.g. if i upgraded to a geforce 2, would i get better graphics in XWA over my Riva TNT2?)

I have the 3D Blaster Annilator2 with the nVidia Geforce2 GTS chipset, I also just installed last weekend the 'new' Drivers called 'Detonator 3' from nVidia's website it works real well, I will have to check LucasArts website to see what your are talking about regarding XWA 'not' playing well with the nVidia's chipset... I never heard about that.... It is playing ok for me.
Sincerly, rogue518

I just checked LucasArts website in the 'troubleshooting' section, and you should be ok regarding the nVidia RIVA TNT graphic card.
Sincerly, rogue518

I think you need to check out the section in LucasArts for compatibility of Video Graphics cards..... it 'does not' say anything about nVidia graphics cards, not being compatible with XWA... quote: 'it has been proven that XWA has a bug regarding nVidia graphics cards'. end of quote: Proven by who??
Sincerly, rogue518

Yeah... you need to read the section in LucasArts 'TroubleShooting' section, because there 'is' some issues regarding the nVidia RIVA TNT chipset, I have the 3D Blaster Annilator2 w/ Geforce2 GTS chipset, and mine is working really good.
Sincerly, rogue518

Of course it was.
By people with 32MB of RAM and a 350-400MHz CPU and a POS mobo.
Anyone with a new rig like what is flying about today, will be able to run XWAUP without problems
I can run about 35 of JM's new Eclipse-II's on the screen at once without any serious lag, thats @ 1600x1200@85Hz re-fresh.
Of course, I run a GeForce 2 Ultra with 512MB PC-133 on a P3 800 E-B Coppermine with lots of other stuff to take off CPU-load, and I run Win2K SP2 RC-2, so that helps in terms of stability too.
It's all relative..Faster system, faster XWA, period.
If you want 4x4 FSAA with high-res, my current setup can do it fairly easily..Though I hate to push it by putting a crapload of high-faced 18KM mammoths on the screen at once, erm, not
------------------
Jorias Kell
http://www.alteria7.com
