I installed the upgrade and did what those readme told me to do (Course I did not follow them blindly since my location of lines were different). Anyway, xwa loaded up fine. But during flight, I cannot press the targeting switch, doing so would immediately crash me back to windows. Please help (Everything else works though)

A quick question, did you use the installer file? The exe that came with the patch?
------------------
A Jedi seeks for knowledge, a master possesses it!
The Star Wars Guide to the Galaxy
The home of a masters knowlegde!

Yes, I used it and installed everything. I also read through those readme files. Through further testing, I found out that it was only the targeting of tie-fighters(I tested only TIE-Fs using the sim) that crash the game, hence i suspect the problem lies in my linking of the lasers.opt or the new sounds

Mhm, nothing with the Ties was changed, at least nothing I know. Maybe desintall the patch and try if the error still occurs.
Also, you do not need to change any of the stuff that is in the other readmes if you use the installer...
------------------
A Jedi seeks for knowledge, a master possesses it!
The Star Wars Guide to the Galaxy
The home of a masters knowlegde!

Ok, I deleted and reinstalled the whole game+patch+upgrade only. The only crafts I can target without crashing the game are the 5 fighters included in the pack. I really want to play the game with the new models which I must applaud, is top-notch. It's so beautiful... "tears of happiness flow from my eyes". And there's one more problem which could explain the crash, after I installed the pack, I can't see any other objects in space except for the 5 fighters

ok, this is obviously a problem with the opts, of the ships that are crashing the system, i think it could be one of 3 things.
1) check your Flightmodels folder matchs that of the one on the CD (opt filenames), if it isn't, copy all the opts from the CD (except the RPF) into the fightmodels folder. Unlikely to be this one.
2) open SpaceCraft0.lst and make sure it looks exactly like the one on the XWA CD.
3) Using BHE load the latest XWA BHE module. First, goto section "OPT FILE LOCATION 1" and check it looks like this, goto section "OPT FILE LOCATION 2" and check it looks like this. Obviously if it doesn't look like it should, edit it to what it should be.

Just out of interest, what was the problem?

I was using the minimum install. This means that the spacecraft.lst file was referenced from the cd during play. What the pack did was that it placed a new spacecraft.lst containing only the upgraded crafts in the flight models directory. Hence the game referred to the new file, and the rest of the ships wasn't there, go figure the rest.

Another thing we should meantion in the readme... once the new patch comes out...
I guess I should make a page that is dedicated to installing the patch...
------------------
A Jedi seeks for knowledge, a master possesses it!
The Star Wars Guide to the Galaxy
The home of a masters knowlegde!
