Hi All,
I'm new to the forums and I tried search already, typing every related keyword possible...so forgive me if this matter has been resolved already...
I really hope someone can help me out here. I managed to install X-wing Alliance (from the CD / .ISO version, not GoG) and install Darksaber's Craft Upgrade from his site and everything looks great!
Except I have one troubling matter:
When using the X-wing (My FAVORITE ship) I only have ONE laser firing from the MIDDLE when it SHOULD be firing from the 4 corners of the screen, you know, from the FOUR Taim and Bak turrets? I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how to fix it...It doesn't feel right... being in an X-wing and seeing just ONE laser coming from the middle! Thanks in advance
Here are my PC specs:
Windows 7 x64 Bit Ultimate Edition
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5 ghz
GPU: GeForce GTX-750 2 GB
RAM: 8 Gigs
Side Note:
I followed the directions to a T from this link to make XWA work in Windows 7 x64 Bit,
( http://www.gog.com/forum/general/how_to ... w_machines)
Everything works fine without the DCU. But after upgrading the graphics via DCU, the game kept crashing whenever I tried launching any mission, it would freeze when loading to the hangar and give me the whole "This Program has Stopped Working" error message and kick me out to the desktop. I somehow got it to work (though I don't know HOW but I'm glad it does.) In case I need to do a clean reinstall, Is there a proper tutorial on how to install this all properly? like what patches I need, what settings need to be adjusted so XWA with the DCU will work in Windows 7 x64 bit? thanks.
I'm a huge fan of the X-wing series and I just discovered all these graphic updates so i'm super excited to play these games again! And I wonder why oh why don't they make games like X-wing anymore? sigh...

I had this problem with the A-wing as well in the story missions, but not the custom skirmishes.

Actually I figured out this problem a while back..I just had to fly another mission involving an X-wing THEN go to the mission where the ship you fly isn't an X-wing to fix the center firing laser issue to make it fire correctly with the 4 turrets.
For example...on the mission escorting the fleet to all meet up at Sullust, you're in an A-wing and I always liked playing that mission with an X-wing. But as mentioned when I would switch from an A-wing to an X-wing, sometimes I'd get the single laser firing out of the middle. To fix this, I do another mission where you're put in an X-wing (like protect the Bothan Spies) quit, THEN go back to the Sullust mission..then all will be well when you switch from an A-wing to an X-wing..real simple fix! Hope this helps...
Now if I can only make the game work properly with Bandicam...(Bandicam was causing my game to crash when loading a mission..) Also having issues with RealTek Audio...I had everything working before but now when I record with Bandicam it plays back like crap...and that's IF I can load a game with it running..ugh (I just bought an SSD hard drive and installed Win 7 64 bit again...but I still have my old Windows installed on my original system drive...but I'm having issues there with recording too ..sigh...and I should note I keep all my games, videos, etc on other hard drives)
