I just read on TFN that a new version of the (dreaded) essential guide to vehicles and vessels will be release in october.
Itl have colour illustrations and ships from the prequels and the NJO .
I'm really looking forward to seeing some Yuuzan vong battlecruisers and stuff
They just better have corrected the size of the SSD to 17.5 Km .

I saw this book at a used book store and wanted to buy it, but I didn't have enough money. Then I logged onto theforce.net and saw that a new edition with NJO and Prequel stuff is coming out in October and decided to wait and get the new edition.
This is just my two cents.

the first editions of the egvv had the ISD and VSD mislabelled, I believe this was corrected in later editions though. I'm not very impressed with the cartoon like artwork in the new one, and the blueprints look tiny.

I'm with Ace on getting it - so what if the images are cartoony, it'll be cool to have pictures of the Yuuzan Vong ships and the descriptions whouls be interesting.
This is just my two cents.

Just a point of correction - I hop they notice that the solar sailor is currently rotated 90°(maybe it's also just to fit the other pic formats)

Well, looking at again, all I can say beyond the fact that I will get it (despite any failings) is What did they do to the SSD! The cortex seems to slant forward in the corners, the central engine bank is supposed to be much higher, ie invisible from that angle, and the tail is a lot less pointy than it should be, but that last could be the angle. It looks like they drew part of it, changed the angle, drew some more, then changed it again and finished the drawing.
