hi guys,

I've got a problem adding new ships to my game.
I've the great XWAUCPv1.0 (it's awesome), but I like to add some new ships like the e-wing or the alliance escort carrier.

What I've tried (I use mxvted2):

In my mind the easiest way was to use the AllianceEscort.shp file. (I put the opt file in the FLIGHTMODELS folder)
I don't want to override the Home One Class which is under CraftNo 152 so i choose 125 with SpecNo 216. The first error I discovered was under Otp - OPT-FILE: RebelEscort instead of AllianceEscort.
I tried in the Skirmish mode. The game crash to desktop while i target the carrier (I press T to switch between the FG's). The same thing happens when I run the map and i try to target the carrier. I can't even see the carrier.

Same Happens if I wrote manual by using CraftNo 184/ SpecNo 219.

Does someone know what to do? Or isn't it possible to add new ship using XWAUCP?

Hi,

what language version is your XWA?

If it is the german version mission editing, adding ships or even renaming ships in a mission is not possible or at last very difficult to do, since all german transplations are in a huge extra file (those name I still do not remember, sorry).

If you want to edit ships and/or missions you will have to switch to the english language version of XWA.

hi,

yes I've the german one.
I think you're talking about the Xwa.tab file. the XWAUCP rename this file to XwaOrig.tab. my custom missions and the ships from the craft pack runs fine. ingame text is english now.

but I know it's possible to use the xwa.tab file after modify it. after this, it's german again and the craft pack ships works also. I tried it a couple of month ago.

Hi at all,
hope it's ok to use this thread, because I have a question about using MXvTed for adding custom ships to the Game.
I use Win 10, XWA updated to 2.02 and the newest version of the DSUCP (2.5). I wanted to add the Eclipse Star destroyer (not Eclipse II which I already have and which works). I used the slot 46, which is species slot 31 (in shiplist) to overwrite the mole miner. I checked all relevant boxes (known, enabled, and so on) and also double checked manually the shiplist.txt (because sometimes MXvTed seems to not write correctly to the txt-files and there is still craft listed as fighter despite it is a starship). But when I did this and I start a custom mission the eclipse is shown but is still named as mine vehicle...
What am I doing wrong? Or is it not possible to overwrite specific slots?
To explain: I choose the mole miner (slot), because I checked another thread here, to use only slots of ships/craft that are not used in the standard campaign (according to this thread: viewtopic.php?t=11697)

Hello,

Is the ship classed among starships in the Tech Library? If not, you need to regenerate the "SPEC.RCI" file. Instructions to do that are here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11337

Do you use a localized version of the game? If yes, you need to edit or rename the "XWA.TAB" file. This file is situated next to "XWINGALLIANCE.EXE" in your XWA folder. It contains the localized strings for the game.

I deleted a hidden XWA.tab that i had additional to an already next to an existing XWAorig.tab file. I also generated the XWingAllaince.exe and the SPEC.RCI.
The result is promising, I can now use the Eclipse as capital ship, it's ship type is correctly named as ECL, and it is returning fire to me if I attacked it. Only thing is, it is still not showing up in tech library, but that doesn't matter...

Anyhow I will reinstall XWA and the DSUCP from the scratch because I recognized I have two mixed up versions of the DSUCP2.3 and 2.5 (could this cause for example that the lasers colors are mixed up despite i adjusted their color in MXvTed?).

EDIT: Yes, the reinstall also solved the problem with the lasers. Everything running smoothly now. :D
