Has anyone created a SLAM(SubLight Acceleration Motor) System for the missile boat, or is anyone working on one?

I was just bouncing around in Jeremy's new XWA opt editor and was looking at the acceleration ring. If only there was a way to tie it to the Laser Cannon energy and connect it to a simple on/off button.
May the Force be with you all.

You might search this website to see if this topic has been asked about in the past. Probably has. But I agree, it would be great to find a way to have the Imperial Missileboat to have the temporary SLAM acceleration engine-thrust. If not mapping it to one of the Laser Cannon Type sequences, then perhaps the Beam Weapon or better... the Countermeasures button which isn't used that much. Not sure if Jeremy can remap/hook a function call to an external .dll file. If he sees this post he can answer. But that's a good observation ZanEIJOK.

For now, you can change the acceleration speed of the Missile Boat or any other craft via BHE or that other editor I don't recall, but it's permanent, and kind of defeats the purpose of this topic.

In the event that a real SLAM system can't be devised, which admittedly isn't like to happen if it is even possible in the first place, then dumping all your laser energy into the engines is the next best thing. In the table top game X-Wing, you have a choice to attack and possibly use one of your given actions besides SLAM, or use the SLAM action. You either get an additional movement/maneuver, or you fire your weapon systems. Obviously while this concept isn't nearly as gratifying as having the old TIE Fighter SLAM functionality, it would explain the XWA lack of said ability.

That said, you'd still get to use your missiles and warheads respectively, which I might add is really what you as a missileboat pilot should really be using anyways. Tactically speaking the single laser cannon really only is there for the sake of being able to defend one's self in the event of either a total expenditure of payload, or circumstances of opportunity to finish off a crippled craft without wasting a valuable warhead. Realistically the missileboat never should be without an escort of TIE Advanced fighters, they were in fact designed to operate in tandem, once the munition stores are depleted the missileboat would make a tactical withdrawal under cover of their fighter escort and re-arm and re-fuel.

Shoot and scoot. Meep! Meep! Zoom!
