Mission is Convoy Attack its the 3 mission from the Mon Cal cruiser you start in, right after you finish the "proving grounds" Error message says "FlightModles\Frigate2.opt was no found.

I go through the briefing and once I press the "go to hangar button" the crash happens. I just DL this all yesterday I got 1.6, effects by bluemax 1.1.4, the backdrop 3.1, the crew quarters 1.1 and the additional models that are marked "new", I never could find where this new patch v1.0 though. XWA is a steam game, im on windows 10.

I read in one post while looking for answers to a similar problem and the OP was asked to go to his event viewer and copy past and post the text it showed. So I figure Ill be asked the same thing so heres the Errors and messages. There were multiple "events" from within the same few seconds. Im and NOT computer savy so bear with me lol

Looks like you may have 2 problems here, Opts and Hooks.

1 - Reinstall the game, the patch and then test the mission again.
2 - If that didn't work then install the Nebulon B Frigate installer.
https://www.xwaupgrade.com/download/mod ... e_v2.2.exe

Frigate2.opt is the "vanilla" name for the Neb B. It's now called Frigate2Standard in XWAU.
So somewhere it seems something may not have worked right.

Between those 2 options it should get you sorted I hope. Then you can carry on and add the other stuff.
Please post if the issue gets resolved. Thanks :)

I have this same problem.

Before I saw this post, I went to the downloads section and found the 4 frigate ship install files. I installed them all while looking to see if the total number of files in my FlightModels> folder increased. My folder now has 575 items. Not sure if this is correct.

I relaunched the Convoy mission and I now don't get the missing frigate2.opt error; however, my purple hud windows reappeared in my X-wing cockpit. I had previously installed the rebel dynamic cockpits upgrade with the setting "I don't need the HUD anymore".

I just reran the RebelDynamicCockpits_v2.1.exe. Unfortunately, those purple windows haven't gone away.

I'll uninstall everything and try this all again.

Note that of the 10 items recommended to install in order, I am installing all of them in order but I'm skipping number 9: Known issues and fixes since I didn't have the time to go thru the forum and read everything.

This might have been my problem. Are there any really important "known issues and fixes" that should be done and if so, is there a link to them?

Note that this will be my third install of the upgrade over Steam's version of the game. The first time, it said I was missing cargo container.opt files.

TIA

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the Steam Version.
I then installed XWAU Craft Pack v1.6: XWAUCP_v1.6.exe
I made the following choices:
Missile Installation Options:
New Missiles
Laser Installation Options:
BattleFront 2Lasers, includes Turbolasers (S-M-L)
Ion Cannon Installation Options:
Custom Ion Cannons (default)
Optional Miscellaneous Files:
Font Fix by Behelith for ATI or Nvideia Cards
Kiarand's Special Effects Dat Files:
Blue Internal Cockpit Sparks
Kiarand's Alternative Space Debris
Astromech Droid Options:
R5-D4 Alternate Astromech Droid
Corellian Gunship Options:
Corellian Gunship with Fringe
CR90 Corellian Corvette Options:
CR90 Corvette Freedom with Dual Hangers
Dreadnaught Options:
Dreadnaught (DS version) Default
Freighter Type K Options:
Freighter Type K with Containers (default)
Nebulon-B Frigate Options:
Strike Nebulon-B Frigate
Lambda Shuttle Options:
Standard Lambda Shuttle (default)
Imperial Shuttle Options:
2x Imperial Officers (with Turret)
Rebel Lambda Shuttle Options:
1x Rebel Officer, 1x Rebel Pilot (with Turret)
Luxury Yacht Options:
Armored Luxury Yacht - Full Interior
Millennium Falcon Options:
Lando and Niem
Firespray Attack Ship (Slave One) Options:
With Green Lasers
Pursuer Enforcement Ship (Slave Two) Options:
Boba Fett's Slave II
System Patrol Craft Options:
With Rear Turret (Default)
Super Star Destroyer Options:
19.0km
Tie Bomber Installation Options:
with Centre Module Lasers (X2 Missiles)
Tie Defender Installation Options:
Tie Defender (Alt version)
Tie Warhead Installation Options:
Tie X/3 Warhead with Lasers
X-Wing Cockpit Options:
Default Cockpit
Y-Wing Flight Group Color Options:
Gold

Note I chose the Strike Nebulon.

I then installed the XWAU Craft Pack v1.6: Patch v1.0:
XWAUCP_Patch_v1.0.exe

I then launched the game and tried to play the first mission Convoy Attack. I got the Frigate2.opt error.

I then grabbed the NEW Modified Nebulon B model (ModFrigate_v2.1.exe) and installed it. Note that it doesn't offer any choices (like the Strike version). I then launched the game and and unfortunately, the error still occurred.

I then clicked on the "Show all crafts" link and downloaded the non-new Nebulon-B Frigate model (NebulonBFrigate_v2.2.exe). I installed it and it did offer the same choices as the initial Craft Pack v1.6 file. I chose the Strike Nebulon. I then launched and the error is gone.

Does this mean that I have a very old version of the Nebulon-B and that I'll need to wait for the "New" version to be adjusted to offer choices like the "Strike"?

TIA

No you don't have an old version of the Nebulon B. There has been only one Strike version made. So the opt is the same no matter how you install it.

What it means is there's a bug likely in the XWAUCP with the installer and the Strike option Installing the individual installer fixes it.
I've seen similar reports so I'll make a note of it. It will be fixed in our next large release.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have another question that might be related:

I'm now installing all the "New" ships again. My McAfee virus protection just quarantined 2 files: DDraw.cfg

The first was located in Backup\2020-09-30_21.31.09_NebulonBFrigate. Coincidence with the issue above?

The second DDraw.cfg was located in Backup\2020-10-01_12.34.59_ContainerPack.

Should I restore these files and prevent McAfee from flagging them again or is it OK since they were in a Backup folder and weren't going to be used anyway?

TIA

On one hand, these files weren’t going to be used again so it’s okay if they go missing.

On the other hand, you should probably restore them anyway to teach your antivirus not to remove such files from the game again.

Anti virus software tends not to like our installers when downloading but the files themselves shouldn't get detected. Personally not a McAfee fan.
Yes restore the files and make sure they are flagged safe. DDraw.cfg is a crucial file to make the game work so you don't want that getting removed.

OK, will do. And if I ever get any more missing opt files, which of the following should I do:

1. See if the opt file is in any of my Backup> folders and if so, then just copy that single missing opt file into the FlightModels> folder?

OR

2. Look for that ship in the Downloads section after selecting "show all crafts", and install the ship again even though it might not be "NEW",

OR

3. Do step 2 above only after uninstalling and reinstalling?

TIA

4 - report it here. ;)
Reinstalling should never be necessary unless you are impatient.
If you get any more issues they would be with the solo installers and not the Craft Pack most likely. Which you shouldn't get anyway now.

My Cockpits are back to normal now after the reinstall. Those HUD elements are gone.

BTW, when I installed the individual NEW ships, whenever one of them (like the Falcon: choosing Lando and Nium) had options that were similar to what I picked with the initial upgrade file (XWAUCP_v1.6.exe), I avoided installing them just to be safe.

Thus I didn't install the NEW versions of
ModFrigate_v2.1.exe
Shuttle_v5.2.exe
SuperStarDestroyer_v2.0.exe
MillenniumFalcon_v3.2.exe

I know I'm being paranoid but after 3 installs, I don't want to do it anymore. Those ships take a long time to install. ;p

Get a working copy of the game. Then copy that XWA Folder and rename it something else.
That way if you have an issue you can rename it back and fix the problem.
The NEW ships are exactly that. New ships or bug fixed and improved versions from the ones that came with XWAUCP.
So you should use the really. But like I said get your game to your liking first if worried.
It'll all be simpler in the future.
