Having problem moving aiming and such a little bit

Hi, im having trouble using the joystick to move aiming and such a Little, doesnt seem to do anything at first, is there a fix for this? I have a Thrustmaster hotas warthog. Is there a joystick that works better?
Does the XWA upgrade work on the steam version of the game?

Please excuse grammer, Spelling mistakes and such.

XWAUCP works with Disc, GoG or Steam version.
