Hi All,
I've downloaded and installed the upgrade package but when I enter the game, all of my ships look like ghosts without any texture or detail. It also causes my game to crash intermittently.
I'm on a Win7 OS Dell XPS M1530 with a Nvidia Gforce 8600M GT card.
Any suggestions?

Okay - this morning I tweaked my display settings - I can't remember exactly what I did - & all of a sudden, the graphical updates just worked - beautifully! I can't explain what I did but I think I enabled the 3D hardware acceleration and adjusted the screen resolution and it just worked.
The only glitch I am noticing now is the in game text, both in the HUD and on the screen 'messages', appears broken - that is to say, I can read it but bits are missing off certain letters and numbers.
Has anyone else noticed this phenomena?

Okay - so no I've solved the issue of the broken text!
Found this tutorial:

Which walks you through the steps to repair the font issue.
So now I have a beautifully restored version of X-Wing Alliance that I've rediscovered my addiction for - and I am sharing that addiction with my 8 year old son who is blown away by the game itself also.
