I don't know what is up with my Norton Power Eraser program, but after running a scan it is insisting Alliance.exe is bad and wants me to remove it... not sure how that will happen given it is on the original XWA CD...

This isn't a tool you should be using without a good reason, because it'll likely break more than it fixes on a computer that is working fine.
Obviously this one is a false positive, which is not surprising. Old programs do a lot of weird/bad things (for example, they are not signed, usually need to run elevated etc.) so they are particularly likely to trigger wrong reports in such tools.
