I just received an email with a virus attached. It's not a new one but quite a bad one anyway.
It's called W32.Klez.E@mm and it was attached to a com or Bat in the Email.
The problem is that as soon as you click on the Email preview pane it runs it!
So you don't even have to open it.
Luckily my Norton email scanning detected it. Otherwise I wouldn't have even known what it was. It scans the address book for Email addresses.
To fix Outlook Express to stop this go to the patch here. It's for IE 5 & 5.5 but it still happened in my IE6! http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-020.asp
For details on the virus and a fixing tool go here: http://firstname.lastname@example.org
Check your systems!
------------------
Going in Full Throttle!
The X-wing Outpost
Home of The Batlle of Yavin and Endor projects.
Now We've rewritten history.
The one thing that we found out.
The sweet taste of vindication.
Just turns to ashes in your mouth.
Where do we go from here?
And should we really care?
The end is finally here,
God have mercy...
I've been getting a lot of those recently form different senders....but Norton quarrantines it, and then I delete it. It's more of a nuisance to me than a real threat...
But I haven't seen those sites before, thanks Ace.
Yep, same here. I have 5.0 though.
------------------
-General Edor Crespin
Captain of the SSD Shadowkeeper
Commander of Amethyst Squadron
"Don't worry- No matter how bad you think your life is, mine is worse."
Uh, stupid question, but I'd rather like to be sure:
This is only a problem for ppl using outlook or another e-mail manager - not those having online-only accounts, right?
------------------
General Vince Trageton
UPMF Supreme Commander
The Imperial City Project
The Blue Phantom
Evil people do evil things!
[This message has been edited by General_Trageton (edited 22 April 2002).]
Looks like this one's getting around, after all. It always makes me glad I don't use horribly insecure e-mail clients like Outlook (Express). Check out the fake from address, hehehe. =)

quote:
From - Wed Apr 24 16:32:10 2002
X-UIDL: 1019678953.27793.snafu.radiusco.com,S=153059
X-Mozilla-Status: 0000
X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000
Return-Path: <email@example.com>
Delivered-To: firstname.lastname@example.org
Received: (qmail 27791 invoked from network); 24 Apr 2002 20:09:12 -0000
Received: from unknown (HELO khan.accn.org) (188.8.131.52)
by snafu.radiusco.com with SMTP; 24 Apr 2002 20:09:12 -0000
Received: from Oapoxri (fennville125.accn.org [184.108.40.206])
by khan.accn.org (8.12.1/8.12.1) with SMTP id g3OK8OpT026418
for <email@example.com>; Wed, 24 Apr 2002 16:08:28 -0400 (EDT)
Date: Wed, 24 Apr 2002 16:08:24 -0400 (EDT)
Message-Id: <200204242008.g3OK8OpT026418@khan.accn.org>
From: simon <firstname.lastname@example.org>
To: email@example.com
Subject: The Garden of Eden

[This message has been edited by Defiant (edited 24 April 2002).]
