How did you get it working? This is a great game I have just started to enjoy again recently, and although I'm currently running v1 on XP, I do have mates with Windows 7 who are interested in getting back into it. If you could let me know how you got it working, please let me know! I plan on being on GameRanger with it fairly soon, I just don't know what version to go with... Play sometime??

Ah more nostalgia. Now I want to break that one out too. What did you have to do to get it working on windows 7?

I wish they would remake it with the space and ground combat from SWEAW but still keeping the other aspects like diplomacy, espionage, etc.

here is what i did
1. Copy everything from INSIDE the Rebellion (or Supremacy) folder on the CD to "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Rebellion"
Important: Do not copy the Rebellion folder itself, copy everything inside it. You will need to create the 'LucasArts\Star Wars Rebellion' folders yourself. Make sure they are spelled correctly.
2. Download the file in the first post at: http://www.swrebellion.com/forums/postt3937.html
3. Extract the downloaded file.
3. Right click the Rebellion_x64.reg file and click merge. (If your program files is on a different drive you'll need to edit this reg file)
4. Copy the files d3drm.dll and REBEXE.exe to "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Rebellion"
5. Create a folder called "SaveGame"
6. Run the game (REBEXE.exe) as an administrator.

note: i don't play online anymore, so please don't ask to me to do so.

I was able to get Star Wars: Rebellion to run on my Windows 7, 64 bit today. I found some help online that was pretty painless and seems to be working fine.

"I'm playing Rebellion (or in my case Supremacy) on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit RTM with no problems (and not using XP mode).

What I did is as follows:

Everything worked for me first time. I have the problem where I can't skip the briefing but the space battles seem to work fine."

I'm ready to play this game with anyone who is interested. It's been a while, but I remember the majority of it. Another GREAT LucasArts game...

Thanks to both of you. No worries Tankhill, I'll take two identical answers over no answers any day.

I bought it when it originally came out, in Rotterdam of all places lol, anyhow, I couldn't get used to it, seemed really confusing at the time, and soon gave up with it

the boardgame version from Fantasy Flight Games (with the expansion) made me re-install the PC games on a XP system. The game as per Lucasart publishing is quite ... meh. The use of the RebEd editor improved A LOT the Fun.

I bought the CD on sale a couple years later. Don't think it had too big a manual with it.

I remember it being a tome, but I don't remember why. What did they fill the thing with? A 1-page bio/description of each character & unit in the game (and there were quite a few...)?

I suggest starting reading something more updated such as The Essential Atlas before playing Rebellion.
And download the update to The Essential Atlas. The Rebellion's Galaxy is a mess.
Almost no planet is located where it should be in Rebellion.

The Gameplay section is the only one really important in the Rebellion tome.
You can take just the nomenclature of the Tutorial section.

There is Rebellion Editor (download link: http://www.swrebellion.com/downloads/mo ... itle=RebED ) if you wish to edit the Galaxy in Star Wars Rebellion.
I remember the main constraint with the editor is that you cannot input a name longer than the original one. This applies to all the capital ships.
Not sure about planet and sector names.

I've just given a try to Rebellion Editor this evening. It offers some very nice features. I see I can also modify the starting buildings on Coruscant and the planet with the Rebel Base.
I have a "boosted game" going on with 8 Construction Yards, 5 Training Facilities and 6 Shipyards on the capital. Both sides have been boosted. Too enjoyable to build such mods.

Did you add 19 starting buildings on Coruscant and the game did not crash? I remember the game crashed right after the briefing if I added more than 15 total starting buildings.
I played the CD version when I tested it. Do you play the GOG version?

I actually added 50 starting buildings both to Coruscant and to the Rebel Base planet. No game crashes occurred after the briefing.
Here is the full list of the added starting buildings on Coruscant:
8 Construction Yards
6 Orbital Shipyards
5 Training Facilities
8 Shield Generators Gen Core Level 1 (just remember in Episode 6 the Emperor went down, not Coruscant)
8 Laser Batteries Series 1 (a bit of "defensive" fire won't hurt)
8 Mines
7 Refineries

As for the Rebel Base planet I replaced some Laser Batteries with Ion cannons.
Just to do something Empire at War-style.

And yes, I have the GOG version of Rebellion installed.

50 starting buildings added to each of the "capital" planets when they normally are in the range of 10-14 and the game did not crash?
OK, so with the GOG version you are allowed to add more than 15 buildings.
The only constraint still remaining is 15 buildings a planet for each type.
No limit for the total amount of them.

As for game balance I'm afraid that adding all those buildings gives a huge advantage to you, not the AI.
The AI on Rebellion is not much proficient, so I hardly think it can take advantage of that boost.

Now that I've played 300 days I have to totally agree with you, Mark. I'm overpowered, the AI is not.
