XWAUCP version 1.3 is available as of right now. Thanks to Darksabers hard work it does not only include G_Ts wonderful new Assault Transport but is now also compatible with the STEAM version of X-Wing Alliance.

This is what Darksaber has to say about it:
Darksaber wrote:We've been working hard to make the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Craft Pack (XWAUCP) compatible with STEAM's version of X-Wing: Alliance. I can now happily say that you'll be able to install the XWAUCPv1.3 with your STEAM XWA.

You may have read that the STEAM version will not be supported, Well, sorry about that, I just needed some time to figure out a workaround to make the XWAUCP compatible.

I've also added General_Trageton's NEW Assault Transport

So what are you waiting for? Download the NEW XWAUCPv1.3 now and experience XWA with all the Upgraded Craft.

Huge respect for this, DS.

From what you initially posted about the Steam version, I can't imagine coming up with a workaround was an easy job.

With Steam being the huge platform it is, I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who'll really appreciate your work bringing XWAU to Steam, and hopefully this will lead to a lot of exposure for XWAU, and allow a lot more people to experience the hard work and quality that's been poured into the project over the years.

Thanks for still putting so much of your time into a 16 year old game, and a project that's still in progress after 15 years.

Couple of quick questions. Been out of the XWA loop for a while but was an avid frequenter of this site. With this new steam version were there any improvements to the base game? Additionally.. I have a widescreen monitors now and a separated joystick and throttle. Have any improvements been made in that regard. I remember in the past getting widescreen to work was a bit of a chore.

Cheers. Glory to the Empire.

Oh my... does that work for the steam version too?

Couple other questions.
1. I used to make a lot of missions with dangerfield's editor. I liked the idea of being able to fly stuff like the imperial shuttle on custom missions. I never could though thanks to the S-foil thing. Was that ever addressed?

2. How about separated joystick/throttle controls. I have the X-55 Rhino now. Has anyone figured out how to make both parts work with the game?

3. Anyone figure out TrackIR for XWA?

...Sorry for highjacking the thread but I know that this community is small and a bit older... like me. I just kinda figured I'd get some visibility here as its linked on the main page.

Cheers all. Good to see people still have love for this old gem.

Hi

Been meaning to get this for ages. I have the Steam version, XWAUP won't install because it doesn't detect the game's .EXE. Is this a registry issue I need to "hack" or simply something hasn't installed correctly?

If you received one of 2 messages stating either
XWAU Craft Pack v1.3 could not find the X-Wing: Alliance installation directory!

XWAU Craft Pack v1.3 installation failed!

Please reinstall X-Wing: Alliance.
or
The XwingAlliance.exe has not been detected.

Please reinstall X-Wing: Alliance.
Read either message again carefully, now what does the message ask you to do?

That's right "Reinstall X-Wing: Alliance" who's a clever lad :)

So what should you do now?

That's right again "Reinstall X-Wing: Alliance", you catch on fast :)

Hey!

This is my first post, and I must say, this upgrade for X-Wing Alliance is awesome, though I downloaded it only yesterday. However, I ran into a problem with B-Wing, which I think you have experienced. From what I found out, this problem was already present in the versions older than 1.2.

The B-wing fires lasers and warheads from the same position when flying it in a campaign mission, at least in the flight simulator. In a skirmish everything is fine. This definitely makes the B-Wing unusable in the campaign.

You said that this problem was fixed in the version 1.2, but in my case it doesn't seem that way. I installed the version 1.3.

I'm using a disc version of X-Wing Alliance, and this problem wasn't present before I installed the XWAUpgrade. Any idea how this problem could be fixed? :hilfe:

If you downloaded and installed the craft pack, try downloading the B-Wing mod individually. Install that and see what happens.

Good Luck,

My problem is this.
i have installed DTMSB previously but now i have installed windows 10 and had to reinstall XWing GOG Version.
Installed Gog version
then Xwing 1.3 update
but when i tried to installed DTMSB it said that is already installed.
is there a way to reinstall DTMSB?

Is DTMSB referring to DTM's high res backdrop patch?

If so, it should be included in v1.3 of the XWAU and installed as part of that. Which would be why it's telling you it's already installed when you and try and run the now obsolete separate file.

Have you tried flying a campaign mission? You'll probably find the backdrops are working fine.

Does the XWAUCP 1.3 contain the DTM's Super Backdrops or is that installed separately?
