Since nobody seems to care in the General forum, I'm reposting here :hilfe:

--------------------

Hello all,

I have an outline for a campaign I want to create for X-Wing Alliance and I just "finished" one of the missions. I'd say it's over 95% done. I've tested it dozens upon dozens of times (and loaded it in the combat simulator nearly 300 times... I'm a perfectionist). I just want some feedback on it because, honestly, I feel like I might be making it for myself. There isn't much of an XWA custom mission audience at the moment.

I aim to change that.

Here's the briefing text to grab your interest:

[Description]
Pilots from Wampa Squadron are sent out to rendezvous with and escort a convoy of desperately needed supplies back to the Nest.
[Briefing]
A convoy containing vital supplies has just arrived at the Mirgoshir Hyperspace Crossroads. We're sending you out to escort them home. This mission shouldn't be anything more than a milk run. More specifics will be given out at the briefing.
At 1400 hours, Wampa Group will leave the Nest and hyper to the Mirgoshir System to rendezvous with our convoy at the X-23 hyperspace crossroads outpost.
This is essentially a propaganda mission. We don't plan on encountering any hostiles. Alliance Intelligence hasn't recorded any recent Imperial activity in the area and the convoy itself hasn't run into any Imperial ships.
The crossroads will most likely be experiencing a high amount of civilian and commercial traffic, and that's why we're stopping by. We need this sector to know the Alliance has a presence here. We need to get the civilians talking about rebel ship sightings.
They see us, they have hope. They have hope, they might just cause problems for our enemies. The mere sight of X-Wings on patrol could be the spark that causes a fire the Empire will have to devote resources to extinguishing.
If, in the remote chance, you encounter any hostile craft, be them pirate, mercenary, or Imperial, you'll have to drive them off or destroy them. I cannot stress how important it is that you protect the convoy craft.
These ships are carrying not only vital warheads and rations, but also personnel for deployment in the sector. Hopefully all this exposition is irrelevant. Let’s get going.
[End Briefing]

Everything is done EXCEPT:
1. The briefing is not animated.
2. The briefing is not voiced yet. I heard this is a pain to pull off and could use advice.
3. The hangar is wacky and weird. I need help with that. I want it to be the Family Base hangar, but it's really weird looking. Mon Calamari Cruiser won't even let the mission load from the briefing room...
4. Some very minor aesthetic features are not finished yet. I'm having difficulty with the "Jump To" orders of two ships in particular.
5. End of the mission hyperexit points are really wacky. They don't effect gameplay. Or shouldn't.

It features 50 voice lines featuring almost FOUR MINUTES of dialogue! Hey, for a combat mission, that's pretty darn good!

The mission can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1I3Y ... S1wUGRwUzA

The .rar contains the voice lines, the mission, an edited .lst file to allow the mission to appear and be playable, and a test pilot that has completed the game (courtesy of YOGEME). If you've already installed custom missions, unzipping this to your main XWA directory WILL replace your Battle 8 Mission 1 file AND the mission .lst file.

It requires the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade. There are many ships in this battle. You can find the XWA Upgrade here: http://xwaupgrade.com/

I'd post more screenshots, but I don't want to spoil anything for the player, so here's one:

Feedback is much appreciated!!! :D

I'll give it a go as I'm working on something similar. I'm personally considering forgoing the briefing thing, i tend to skip it my self when i play and just read the summery when i'm waiting for the mission.

Have you found it difficult to amass a consistent voice cast? That's my main issue...eh i digress i'll play yours and give you feedback and perhaps you can do the same for me later?

I gave this a try. Rather difficult. You might consider modifying the objectives so that the % of convoy craft still alive is displayed. Also, the .plt file you included didn't work (took me to battle 1 mission 1; I had to edit it with a pilot editor), and your victory trigger sequence never fired, preventing me from formally completing the mission. But the voicing sounded good. I was amused that the imperial sympathizer was Canadian (or Minnesotan?).

Nice work. When is this mission set?
Which year of the Galactic Civil War?
I don't judge tactics. The Battle is the best and only Judge.
