Imperial Starbase designed for refueling of Imperial Star Destroters. The spacedocks can accommodate a fleet of 12 ISD and 6 VSD, or a total of 36 frigates or cruisers.
When Emperor Palpatine ordered Admiral Tycon to study a strategy of invasion of the Ronin Empire, the Tycon Space Stations were created to give a shelter to the Imperial Star Destroyers during loading and refueling. The Tycon Battlestations were able to travel in hyperspace to establish the Imperial outposts in hostile areas.
The Imperial Battlestations were necessary to fight the sub-cruisers of the Ronin Dukes: they used to emerge from subspace inflicting severe damage to the Destroyers not prepared for combat. Sometimes small sub-cruisers managed to evade the defensive systems of the Battlestations entering the rada and inflicting serious damage to imperial ships.
Despite these boldly attacks, the Tycon strategy succeeded and the displacement of Imperial Battlestations marked the capture of important trade routes preaviously controlled by Ronin. The construction of more bases could bring the total invasion of the Ronin Empire, but Palpatine opted for the creation of the Death Star and of the Super Star Destroyers. When the actions of the rebel Alliance fleet became more dangerous, the Ronin operations were interrupted and all Tycon bases were recalled to Couruscant to defend the planet's orbit.

FFffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Damn, that's one awesome thing! Loosely reminds me of the very first idea I had for my Diamond Station (before I moved to the disk-like shape)
I do think this game has far too few huge-@$$ stations

Fantastic, DTM... this battle station deserves a bunch of custom mission for itself!
Does the XWA engine manage it well, taking into account of its huge dimensions?

Do I even have to comment on how awesome this is? I'll do it anyway: this is flippin' awesome! I'd love to be able to fly around this thing, awe at it's size, take in all the wonderful little details that are typical of a DTM creation....then blow it all up!

Fantastic design! Is that going to be an Opt, or just a model you did for rendering?

Give him another twelve hours and it'll be the mother of all opts

Yes, it's a WIP opt. I'm testing it adding some minor details. It' works good!
Renders are funny and I will release a mission file with some starships parked inside and flying around, to give you the right coordinates.
There is a main small-ships hangar on the top: it could be possible to develope more inside mashes and textures, but I will release a fully operational 1.0 version now.
There are other WIP opts and I like to work on different model at the same time. I decide to release them only when I'm happy with the final result, but an OPT like this is never really 100% complete! I simply stop working on it.

DTM, since Moff Hernan never released his Death Star, and he hasn't been heard from in years, you want to give it a go?

Those images look fantastic! An awesome design and very well done.
Would you consider releasing the original model you make in OBJ format? I'd love to bring this sucker into Lightwave and make some cool movies. Just an idea.

Not sure if I'd feel entirely safe flying an X-Wing so close to that station!

Nice renders! This design deserves to be canon!
i am in the planning stages of writing up 3-4 models of the Tycon:
Tycon I diameter 4.8 km (3 mi.)
Tycon II diameter 9.6 km (6 mi.)
Tycon III diameter 19.2 km (12 mi.)
Tycon IV diameter x km (x mi.) going smaller because post-Endor, New Republic era.
