XWA 1.6 French translation

I have finish to adapt the French version of the game with the x wing alliance upgrade 1.6.

Menu, Launcher, ingame text, voices and Briefing are all in french now.

It should be installed after the mod and optionnal craft, replace any existing files.

Hello all,

Is there a way to display accented letters with XWAUP ?

My translation seems to have some problems with some ingame text like when you switch laser mode etc... é è and other accented characters are not display correctly, (like they are missing from fonts ?)

Vanilla game do not suffers this problem but do not use the string.txt file. (XWA.TAB)

You could probably change the text from the english/aruebesh hybrid to something native to french. That will of course change the appearance to whatever font you have installed and selected to show ingame though.

The problem is a bug in the DDraw dll.

I've uploaded DDraw dll v1.3.10.1 with a fix for that.

Hello everyone

Thanks a LOT for all your work !!! It's amazing and a pleasure to take back my old x-wing boxes (X-wing, Tie fighter, XW Vs Tie and BoP ... are they working with the same enhanced graphics ?!?) from the garage ... I "grew up" with and it's a huge pleasure to play with !! I remember wires all over the living room's floor during first LAN games !! So much fun !!

I have many questions but for now, but to stay in the subject :
It's not working for me ... I still have lot of signs and letters instead of "é" "è" or "à" ...
I have tried ddraw_d3d11_1.5.12 and ddraw_d3d11.1.3.10.1 ... but nothing happened.
What can I do ?

There is the some situation with Italian accent chars.

This patch solve the problem ?

If you use the mod alone the DDraw dll v1.3.10.1 file should fix the problem.

If you also use the EffectsByBlueMax_v1.1.3, there's no fix, as the modified ddraw dll in this mod do not have the char fix included yet.
