I finally got around to installing xwaupgrade and the game looks incredible, I can't even imagine how much work it took to get to this point. But there's one thing that bothers me... there doesn't seem to be any visual feedback or effect when you score a hit on a target with your lasers. Is this intentional, or did I install something incorrectly? Seems like a pretty major oversight if it is intentional, my weapons just feel like they lack impact, for lack of a better word.

I finally got around to installing xwaupgrade and the game looks incredible, I can't eIf I understand you correctly, then you are missing e.g. the flashing on the hull of a ship when the lights hit shields?

I believe laser hit effects can be toggled using the in-game menu. You've probably got yours off. Press Esc and look in the Video Options (sorry, I don't have the game handy at the moment to check where).

I also have this issue.
No visual effects on hitting shielded targets, except occasional light flashes on hull.
When craft have no shields left I have nice explosions and stuff.
But not when shilds are up. Kinda breaks immersion.
What can I do?
P.S. I play TIE Fighter Total Conversion (TFTC) (Version 1.2)

?Animations.dat - 2008 - Ion hit effect on hull, 3100 - 3500 - Shield hit effect restored which was removed accidentally.

That's how it's always been. Compare it with standard XWA if not sure.
We can't do much to change this afaik. It's not a modern effects game.
Explosions happen after the Shields are down.

Standard XWA show simple blue/red circular "ping" animation on craft textures.
I re-check new one and yes: Upgrade have similar one, but it is very transparent and barely visible.

It is even less visible on small crafts.
Can I tone down this texture transparency somehow? Or increase it's size?
