Homestead, cantina, and generic buildings welcome. A Mos Eisley spaceport DXF is also needed. The former buildings need not be very complex and should be kept simple. However, the Mos Eisley spaceport will need quite a bit of detail, especially with the interior.
Please use movie pics and other official resources for reference.
Post DXF pics here, and Ace and I will provide suggestions and give final approval. When a DXF is approved, I will texture it and use it in the BOY shipset. Of course, credit will be given to contributors.

This is a realy simple building, but when flying over it, you won't see much of it anyway.
------------------
Gringlas Arts and Works
www.gringlas.de.tf

Is that dome made up of 3D faces?
------------------
When 900 years you reach, look as good you will not, hmm?

Nope, and neither is the arch over the door. That needs to be fixed.

Thanks Gringlas, buildings like that would work. Again, they need to be simple so they add minimal size to the shipset. About 5-6 different types of buildings are needed, which is enough to construct a city with the desired visual effect.

@DataDroid: Of course it has 3d faces! Have you ever used mesh primitives
@Abolisher: Just a suggestion, but wouldn't be the best idea, to put some of the buildings togehter as one OPT and make the buidlings destroyable meshes.

Interesting idea about 1 opt with the buidlings destroyable and maybe the area/ground they are on not destoyable. Perhaps with rubble textures under the buildings.
@Gringlas: oops, you shouldn't have said that to DataDroid.
BiosBoy dives for cover into the nearest bunker.

There are benefits to having several buildings in one OPT, like a city block. You don't fill very many slots that way. However, it always looks the same if you are going to use it in multple missions. With individual buildings, you have much more flexibility with the cities you construct and each one can be different. Gringlas, if you want to make both types go for it. For now, I'd like to have individual buildings, five or six different types with each being relatively simple.

Only problem I see with individual buildings is the craft limit... if the buildings are set up as single opts, you may run out of space in the mission for ships to fly. O_o

You can use that if you want. I think its one of the normal civilian housing buildings. There wasn't much of a description on the page I was useing as an example If you want it tell me and I'll email it to you.
------------------
-AK1
Board the SSD Dictator
Feel free to link to my site! You really think I never managed to learn about craft limits during my almost two years of mission making?
C'mon, there is plenty of space for alot of buildings, especially when you have them all self destruct after you leave Mos Eisley. That means when you arrive in Region 2, you have all 96 slots (except your craft) available again. There's alot of tricks to getting around craft limits.
I know what I'm doing here!
Ace Knight, who made that building? You? I'm asking because you didn't specifically say. That building would work, but lets see what else shows up in this thread. I'd like to know what my choices are.

I thought it was 96 in each region anyway, I'm pretty sure that I've had missions with nearly 96 in one region (full scale engagement) and several in another (mothership plus escorts and scenery ships)for a total of more than 96.
And there was no need to be rude, it was a good point Hawkeye1 was making.

Heh.. True.. I should have known you'd know that..*baps self* anyways, Mos Eisley wouldn't be that populated anyhow. I'm just thinking about if any very larger, more complex cities are done.
Actually, you could just make a city block opt, and make each house a separate destroyable mesh...hmm..

quote:
I thought it was 96 in each region anyway...

I've frequently run into problems when the total craft number exceeds 96 at one time in all regions combined. These range from getting stuck in hyperspace to not having AI craft appear. However, I have always assumed that the overall limit was 96 and did not isolate the problem on a region by region basis. Therefore, you might be correct...
*back on topic*
Like I implied earlier, both types (individual buildings and city blocks with destroyable meshes) would be useful. Both are well-suited for different circumstances.
Yes, Hawkeye, I know you were just trying to help. The bottom line is, I will figure a way to make the mission work with the best quality possible.
[This message has been edited by Abolisher (edited 13 February 2002).]

Okay, I'll do a block of different buidlings in the upcoming week. I will also save all buidlings as single DXFs.

Remember we are just looking for simple opts. They don't have to be of XWAU quality or anything. So any new modellers don't be scared to show your work.
We are just looking for a few different buildings to place around a level of Mos Eisley in. We aren't looking to build the whole thing in exact detail or worry what blows up. That can be for someone else's Shipset.
So does anyone else have any designs also? Please try not to make it with a high facecount.
------------------
Going in Full Throttle!
Ace Antilles X-wing Outpost
Home of The Batlle of Yavin and Endor projects.

Thanks Gringlas for stepping up to the plate and doing this.
I would like to remind everyone that a relatively detailed spaceport building is needed too.

Yes, why don't you go ahead and send it to me. That'll give me something to work on while I wait for the rest of the buildings.

Ablosher :
Even though you probably have the missions all worker out, On the Death Star Attacks would you alter it to be more like the Original X-Wing attack, like you have the surface attack first when you fight the fighters ETC, then in the next mission you fly in a specially made OPT that is just a trench so you could have guns. What do you think?
------------------
Creator of the WWII Shipset : http://www25.brinkster.com/timmyxwa/shipset
If you want in on a WWII shipset, email me at mr_stupid82@hotmail.com
