CmdKewin: My graphics card is old as well and it doesn't support DirectX 32 bit colours. I have tried but unless I run the 3D view fullscreen I can't set it to always use 16 bit colours.
So for now anyone that is running their desktop at 32 bit colours and with a grpahics card that doesn't support DirectX 32 bit colours, like mine, will have to switch down to 16 bit colours to be able to see the 3D view of the model. Its okay to switch down while the program is running.
DataDroid: First off you said that the 3D window disapeared now you are saying if goes to the back and you can't get it to come to the front. This is really confusing to me could you put me straight..
Admiral Alistair: Yeah you will see a few opts with white areas thats becuase those opts are structured in a mad way and I don't understand how the game managed to apply the correct texture to those areas.
As far as I know that only happens in 1 Xwa opt and never in custom opts.
RedWings: Did you download the full installation from my site, the 3 MB one. What is the last thing you do before the error happens and can you tell me the full error message when it does and I will see if I can help.
So many projects on the go.
Creator of Opt Viewer, V-38 Assault Fighter and Alliance Escort Carrier.
Currently working on OptED an all new advanced Opt program.

Thank you Bios Boy for the answer.
I did full installation OPT Viewer in default folder. During installation of error messages is not present. At first start OPT Viewer the message is given out: " Run-time error '13' Type mismatch ".
In file ST6UNST.LOG there is a line: " NOTE: The file ' RICHED32. DLL ' was not copied because it is intended for use under Windows 95 only. It is not needed under Windows NT 3.51 or 4.0. ".
OPTech gives out the message " Run-time error '13' Type mismatch " at operation " Load.OPZ ".
My Specs are
PentiumIII 866 mhz
512 mb Ram
Asus Geforce 2 GTS (Detonator 21.81)
Running on WIN XP.
Beforehand I thank for the answer (I am Sorry for bad English).

OK, basically, when I remove the focus from the 3D window, it is sent to the back. However, there is no way to bring it to the front again, since OPT viewer "thinks" that it is still on top. I have to hit the space bar twice (or select it from the menu twice), once to turn it off, and then to turn it back on again.

RedWings, Matthias
Do you have DirectX 8 installed as you need it to run my program.
DataDroid
Okay so the window isn't disappearing its just going to the back and you can't get it to come forward again.
On my computer I just click the mouse on the 3D window or the 3D window's title bar and that brings it to the front. Does that not work on your machine?
I know you can't Alt-Tab to it and I know it doesn't show up in the taskbar beacuse thats how I made it.
[This message has been edited by Bios Boy (edited 22 February 2002).]

OK, I had it maximized, that was the problem. I would still like to be able to alt+tab it though.
BTW, what exactly are the key commands; is there a way to rotate by increments of like 5° or something?
------------------
Member of the Imperial City Project

I am glad its sorted now. All the commands are in the ReadMe file which of course you have read from top to bottom.
Rotation is done through the arrow keys and is setup so the speed is the same on everyones computer. Camera rotation is something I will improve in a later version and I might make the 3D window accessable through Alt-Tab and the taskbar.

RedWings, it couldn't hurt to try using the latest drivers for your video card http://www.nvidia.com Anyways get the 23.11 drivers from nVidia's site and try again...

I run WinXP as well... if all else fails with the official drivers I can tell you where to get beta drivers, which I know work flawlessly in every program I have tried thus far... Anyways get the 23.11 drivers from nVidia's site and try again...
I see you have the 21.81 drivers, just so you know about a week after nVidia released those they released the 21.83 drivers because the 81's were extremely bugridden...
[This message has been edited by Admiral Alistair (edited 22 February 2002).]

Thank for the help, but it not error of drivers (I tested).
There is a suspicion on Russian language options (second language in English Win XP).

If it is a language problem I am not sure I can do anything about that.
Have you tried what Matthias suggested about changing settings in the control panel?

Actually, what would be great is if you could take a model screenshot fot the purpose of making skirmish pictures.
Or even better, add a set viewpoint simular to the one seen on the standard skirmish pictures.
------------------
SFS
We sell arms to Emperor Palpatine.
We thought he had a nice smile.

Just use the printscreen key, and paste it into PSP or some suitable image editor, then crop it to the right size, resize it to 180x180, decrease color depth to 256 colors, and save.
------------------
Member of the Imperial City Project

Well thats another problem sorted and it wasn't due to my code
A screenshot facility was very easy for me to do but I was a bit lazy and I didn't add it in, I will do this for the next release.
------------------
So many projects on the go.
Creator of Opt Viewer, V-38 Assault Fighter and Alliance Escort Carrier.
[This message has been edited by Bios Boy (edited 25 February 2002).]
