A possible way to add Force Feedback support to xwing vs tie fighter

Hi Jeremy,
I very much appreciated your in the force feedback priority on the xwing alliance.
Many thanks again !!!!
Unfortunatenly this support is not present to xwing vs tie fighter that is another excellent game..
I don't have much experience in c++ but I have fixed some fucntions on x360ce relative to force feedback and I have added the ffb support to quake.
In this project:
https://github.com/bobhelander/EDForceFeedback
there is a sort of ffb effect that can be used to any space combat simulator and it is included the source code to play it.
Becouse xwing vs tie fighter not support it, I looking for a way to intercept the event of any possible ffb activity (collision, fire, landing , damage, etc..).
Theorically a solution can be detect when a particular audio file will play (ex. fire gun) call a fucntion in a external dll with a parameter (type of effect for example).
I don't known if this is the right way to do it becouse I don't have experience to hook dll and I don't know if can cause a frate drop ....
For your opinion is possible use modify some of your dll hook and exe patcher to do it ?
Can you give me some suggest me a good way to follow ?
Many thanks at advance !!
