Well, looks like we are on a roll :) Driftwood did it again. This time he made the Rebel Platform available together with Darksabers help. I hope you all enjoy it!

Outstanding work!

I always liked this station in SWG, happy to have it as the standard Rebel Alliance Platform now.

Superb job!
Battle 4, Mission 5: Abandon Rebel Base at Kothlis will have a completely different look.

However, there is a little problem. When I try to install it, I get the following message: "The Hook_Weapon_Rate.dll file necessary to make this craft work correctly is missing from your XWA directory. Please install the Hook_Weapon_Rate.dll to your X-Wing Alliance folder."

Where can I find it?

Thanks again for the Platform.

Not sure how he feels about people linking directly to his drive, so I'll just post Jeremya's thread with the link to it.

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11772

The thread has the link to his drive where you can download the hook.

Downloaded the .dll and it made this Platform work. Thank you so much.
By the way, how many hangars does this Platform have?
I see 2 hangar components scrolling between components.

There is another thing I'd be glad to know. I see that the default targeted component is a Hangar.
Is this a developer's choice to make it "more platform like"?

Sorry for posting so many questions, but I've been waiting for this Platform for a long time.

It has one hangar. The multiple hangar target components is due to how the mesh is split up to keep the facecount within the maximum vertex limits.

Really nice job. Thanks Driftwood. Q... haven't looked at it yet, but does this model have any turbolaser/cannon battery meshes added to it ?

The Force is very strong with the XWA team right now, seriously great job! The Rebel Platform was always a strange one that caught my eye.

So where did this platform design feature? What was the inspiration?

It's only appearance, as far as I know, was in the now closed Star Wars Galaxies, where it was the standard Rebel base in every system bar Kashyyyk. In the game, you're unable to attack most of them, but there is one called Freedom One that you can destroy. These things are armed to the teeth, so taking one down is quite the task.

The model is pushing the new mesh limits, so no, unless I have missed a detail DS added the only meshes added are the hangar ones. I actually was forced to delete a significant amount of the original modeled detail to get the station to stop crashing the game. Luckily most of those details were reflected in the texture underneath, so it was not detrimental to the aesthetic fortunately.

Not that this doesn't look awesome, but what prompted the decision to use this image rather than update the original Rebel Platform?

The Rebel Platform was unarmed in XWA, will this platform be able to defend itself when downloaded into the game?

NO, the original Rebel Platform wasn't or should I say isn't unarmed, I don't know where you got your info from but it's wrong, it has 53 laser points covering it

Defiantly not unarmed :?

And yes the new Platform can easily defend it's self

The Starfighter evaluation mission seems broken. The rebel medium transports ram the station to death since they're not stationary, and the TIE fighters that are supposed to be right behind you when you reach region 2 don't want to seem to show up at all.

I too am curious as to why you replaced the model. It looks awesome, but I always liked the original design, so maybe I'd have preferred to have it updated and have this new model be added as a separate station. Not to diss your work, mind, it look great!

I can't say I recall that being the case in the original game, I remembered the platform being heavily armored and taking a lot of punishment before going down but I don't remember it actually defending itself. In that mission there was the Golan II platform serving as its defender before the Executor closed in for the kill.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember the platform in XWA being armed. Just telling you what I remember. And if this one is armed, that will be awesome to see in-game. Even if it stands no chance against the Executor, lol.
