Escort Shuttle / Skipray Blastboat updates

I'm happy to announce the first "official" XWAU releases from our new member ual002

Escort Shuttle v2.3
With permission ual002 has taken Marco Antonio's Escort Shuttle and added several extra nice Flight Groups to it.

FG1 = Original Assault Camouflage by Marco Antonio Malheiros
FG2 = Imperial Grey
FG3 = Imperial Green Stripe
FG4 = Cygnus Factory Promotional Livery
FG5 = Damaged/Worn Imperial Grey.
FG6 = Black and Grey Inquisitor Camo.

Also the Opt has been edited so it will now explode in a more natural Shuttle way and not just "poof".

You can now download v2.3 from the Downloads page.


Skipray Blastboat v2.2
With permission ual002 has taken Marco Antonio's Skipray Blastboat and added several extra nice Flight Groups to it.

FG5 = Plain Imperial Grey.
FG6 = Blue Assault Camo.
FG7 = Black Assault Camo.
FG8 = Weathered Mercenary.

Also updates to the opts to stop the Pilots Head having the “Exorcist Effect” and turning around 360 degrees.

You can now download v2.2 from the Downloads page.

We look forward to more cool custom paint jobs from ual002 in the future :)

Cool.... Ok... how do I access additional FG's... FG5 to FG8 in AlliED? ( I think that is what I use...)

You can't.

You must use Yogeme to access them

Or with the mission tie hook:
To replace the flight group markings, the format is: "fg", fg number, "markings", value.
To replace the flight group wingman markings, the format is: "fg", fg number, "index", wingman index, "markings", value.

You know, with the added flight groups to some of these fighters, it'd be interesting to see a "Zann Consortium" flightgroup for the Skipray Blastboat.

Not trying to add on too much, just something simple, since the escort shuttle was able to get some new flight groups that are totally different paint jobs.

It would be great if the escort shuttle could be piloted in skirmishes.
Just as you can pilot the lamda shuttle, you could create a cockpit and laser tower for the escort shuttle and add it to the list of ships for skirmishes.
There I leave the idea, if someone considers the idea good, take it and develop it.

@Fliperr, it kinda already is. For now just copy your ShuttleCockpit.opt file and rename it to EscortShuttleCockpit.opt. In your Shiplist.txt file, find the line that says EscortShuttle and change the words that say NonFlyable to Flyable and NoSkirmish to Skirmish and Unkown to Known or something like that. Save. You'll then need MXvTED4.2 editor and when you find the Escort Shuttle, you'll need write in the Cockpit field on one of the tabs and call it "EscortShuttle" then save, to patch the game engine.

Thank you very much Bman for the advice.
I will try to try it, although I am quite a boomer with computer programming.

But I was referring more to creating a new cockpit and turret for this ship.
For example, the rear fender turrets on both ships have different shape configuration and the cockpits have different sizes.
The cockpit of the escort shuttle is narrower compared to the lambda shuttle.
Also, its main weapon configuration is different on both ships. In the Lambdas they are glued to the cockpit and in the escort they are in the ends of the wings.

But hey, to enjoy the ship while deciding if it becomes a cockpit or not, I will try to prove what you have told me Bman.

It's a temporary solution. I'm sure the model will be completed in the future. Everyone who can model etc have a lot on their plate right now. Of course new peeps are also needed and welcome who can step up to the plate and help.

Honestly, cockpits for non-flyable ships are very, very low on the to-do list. We do not plan to make any more ships flyable at this point nor to add cockpits to them. While this might change in the future I would not hold my breath for this one.

To be fair, there is only 2 I could see :

Muurian Transport (it is equivalent in performance to a YT-1300)

Escort Shuttle (it's a heavier version of the Lambda shuttle)

For the rest, I don't see the point (I don't see a dogfight online between escort transports)

I totally agree gentlemen.
There are other original ships and game items to update before modifying other ships in the game.

The Muurian transport cockpit and towers would be great.
With pilot and co-pilot of alien races, for example Rodians, Trandoshian, Klatooinian, Nikto, ect ......

I'll add it to my to-do list if no one else wants to mess with it but it will be a long time away before I can start on it. Also not sure if Driftwood had this on his list too.

E/SHU cockpit has been started by me several months ago. It isn't nearly close to done, but the basic model is there. It will be WIP for an indefinite period of time and I will probably make improvements as I go along.
I have little interest working with the MURT, but if you wanted to hack apart the shuttle cockpit interior and modify that part to use as a starting point for one for that ship I really don't mind.

I have two other non XWAU ships I want to release first but that's also maybe 1/3rd to halfway finished and I probably won't get that out for a while. I was hoping by Christmas but I still need to finish the cockpit opts, and some refinements in the textures, and I kinda hit a time/enthusiasm/skill wall this summer so unless somebody wants to help with that then I'm stalled out for now and don't anticipate having them finished by the end of the year otherwise.
