Here is a WIP preview look at the upcoming cool Holographic Displays from Blue Max.

Image

We now have Dynamic Cockpits for most of the main Rebel and Imperial Fighters but not all cockpits have room for lots of displays.
So this is where a floating Hologram HUD text display will be used.

This is an early preview but it gives you an idea of how it will work. Look for more news from Max about a future release. :)

Awesome!

Are working dynamic cockpit shadows also included in the beta download?

Amazing work, man. You're a wizard.

Thanks for your comments guys :)

Release 1.1.4.0 supports cockpit shadows, yes; and it also supports holographic displays, but you'd need an updated cockpit to see them ;)

BTW, the current version looks cleaner and doesn't shake so much! :P

The Assault Gunboat is going to be the first cockpit to support holographic displays. It's almost finished (we're just testing it). This is what the updated GUN cockpit looks like without DC:

This is what it looks like with holographic displays and DC:

Did I mention that the holographic displays can be turned on and off? (Press Ctrl+T or the holographic toggle button in the AC cockpit).

Still working on the holographic text boxes. I've reduced the noise and banding and tried to make them easier to read.

I'm also updating the Missileboat cockpit to DC/AC, here's what it looks like so far:

The plan is to release both the GUN and MIS on one installer to complete the list of flyable imperial fighters, but I may release previews of both cockpits earlier.

I actualy really like the noise and banding effect, could this be made configurable?

It is, some people like it noisy, some prefer readability. That can be configured in the DC file for the craft. I think I can post some previews soon.

Same Suggestion/Gripe as last time, you are projecting a hologram over an unused MFD - so why not USE the MFD? (I know this topic is showcasing the holograms but I would say that was a bad example :P )

Yeah, in this case there was enough space to either use the dashboard for the text boxes or just adding regular (solid) text boxes on the sides. But, I think Cygnus Spaceworks just wanted to have all its fighters using the same style ;)
