Hi, I am having a blast (pun intended) playing the game in VR (with Oculus Quest 2 via Shadow PC with Virtual Desktop). It runs quite well and smoothly almost all of the time. However, I have noticed that there is one thing that consistently causes the frame rate to freeze/lag which is when I shoot a fancy-looking fighter (e.g. gunboat, black sun fighter, viraxo fighter, hurrim fighter) that has shields, especially when I'm closer to it. The red laser-to-shiels impact seems to slow it all down. Once the fighter's shields are down and hitting causes explosions, everything runs smoothly. Something about the shield hit effect seems to disagree with the performance.

I don't remember if this also happens with other ships like assault transports or lambda shuttles, but I don't think it does. And I don't think it happens with e.g. freighters. I don't remember if it happens with TIE Avengers or Defenders.

Do you have any suggestions for me on how I may be able to alleviate this?

Hello!

This is a known issue that happens to many people 🙁

You can disable the hit effects completely in the game settings menu, until (if?) it gets fixed...
