FYI a warning about modding and XWAU 2024.
Any custom ship mods from sites like mine and DTMs will not be compatible with XWAU 2024 at this time.
Don't want people installing mods and messing up all the cool new stuff we've created
I am going to work on updating the ships on my site but it will take a little time.
In the meantime I recommend holding fire on reinstalling mods on the 2024 release with automatic installers.
Unless you are experts with SHP files or modding. Thanks all.

FYI ref bugs
We are also looking into a few bugs currently. Including ones to do with Y-wing cockpits and VR issues.
We've found and fixed a lot of bugs since May when we wanted to release it.
Sadly there will still be some as always with any mass release mod.
So please accept our apologies, report any you may see and have patience while we fix any found.

Would you recommend installing this on a SSD? I'm getting a frame of, for example, the simulator room screen after the simulator entry animation plays before the new mission choice menu loads.

Yes I've been using it on an SSD for years and now an M2 NVME drive.
Pretty much every game these days really needs an SSD and the PC in general will benefit.

Hello
Its the most fantastic version ever. Just like movie graphics. moreover, there is a minor text issue. The concourse text is too bold. (using 16:10, 1920 x 1200 laptop)
Also HUD is little bit small in this resolution (tried 1 more resolution also). The craft selected on hud is not fitting. Also concoruse text like is missing (e.g GO TO MISSION displays only Go TO..)
Pls check I may be wrong in settings.

Hi. Any chance you can attach a screenshot of where you think it's too bold and the missing area text?smm2303 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 5:21 amHello

So just a few notes (and probably all well-known, but I've been out of XWA for a LONG time) -
Don't bother with the original CDs for install, after about 9 attempts I still couldn't get in-game dialogue working. Bought the GoG version for $10 and everything's great now.
VR. Is. Amazing... except I don't have a targeting reticle in the X-Wing for lasers? If I switch to warheads it pops up (and it's a little off center). Tried a few different options in the configurator, no dice. Anyone know how to fix this?

FYI VR USERS
Active Cockpit is designed to be used with your VR controllers.
If you don't want to use the VR controllers then don't enable it. You will get some issues.
Blue_Max explains more below.
When the Active Cockpit is enabled, a pair of gloves will be rendered where the VR controllers are located. These gloves are black.
If the VR controllers are off, or if they are not being tracked properly, then the gloves may be rendered at the center of the camera instead, causing a bunch of flickering black planes.
There is probably no reason to enable the Active Cockpit if you don't have VR controllers, so it's best to leave that off.
On the other hand, if VR controllers are present and this still happens, then I suggest checking that the controllers are properly tracked in the SteamVR waiting room.
Another reason this may happen is if the controllers go to sleep due to inactivity. In that case, the tracking sometimes is lost.

I just installed this last night and it looks great! Everything is so clean and crisp. You guys did a fantastic job with the look of things.
One thing I noticed, however, after doing a quick little skirmish between an X-Wing and a Tie Fighter: the laser sounds. Firing from the X-Wing sounds nothing like it used to. It doesn't sound "heavy" at all, it sounds like you're firing nothing at all. Almost like a "splat" sound or something. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but it's different from the regular sounding X-wing that I'm used to. I even loaded up the old XWAU 2020 version just to hear the difference and it is very noticeable. The Tie Fighter in the 2020 XWAU also sounds better, as it seems louder than this one and more heavy. My sound options were the same in both.

FYI We are in the process of testing a fix for the missing VR reticules at present.
Hopefully we can release a quick fix for that early soon.

Yes. I noticed this too. "Low powered" (dim red on the laser charge indicator) sound even when it's fully charged.Kel9509 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 10:53 pmI just installed this last night and it looks great! Everything is so clean and crisp. You guys did a fantastic job with the look of things.

Thank you for this amazing upgrade. I was about 18 when played XWA for the first time. Now I am flying with my 11 yo son. We enjoy this good old classic as much as these beautiful improvements. Great job! Unfortunately there's no way to donate. But staying on the "good side" by taking no money is honorable! That's why I love the open source idea and the community spirit (I know this isn't really open source). Because it's not about money. It's about things we love and share. Again this is amazing!

Amazing job guys!!!!!
I tried using the tourmultiplayer_hook (XWA_TourMultiplayer_Hook_2.1.1) modifying Hooks.ini but It doesn't work, Any tip?
At the end I make it work using the hook_tourmultiplayer.dll from Justagai-Jeremy (xwa_hook_tourmultiplayer_WIP_2105121428) and the Combat + Missions + wave foders form XWA_TourMultiplayer_Hook_2.1.1.
But you have to load the mission, you cannot choose It clicking in the pictures.
I am not completely sure but It seems there may be a sort of problem with the tourmultiplayer_hook.dll included in this incredible update.
Thank you for this impressive update.

I have an issue in the XWA2024 installer.
I've installed a fresh copy off of Steam, started the game and exited again. Then I made a copy of the full installation to a separate folder.
Next, I started XWAU2024.exe, clicked through to selecting the folder. The input box was empty at first, so I navigated to the location of that copy I made.
But when I click past the requirements, I get a warning popup saying:
"It seems that you have selected a Steam folder (---location of my steam installation---). It is recommended to install into a folder outside Steam. You can create a duplicate folder with the Copy button. Do you want to continue with the selected folder?"
At this point, I clicked "No" and "Back" to notice that indeed the selected folder was changed to my Steam install folder.
I tried relaunching XWAU2024, but each time it's the same.
I also tried the "Copy" button, to copy that same folder to yet another folder. It makes a copy successfully, but when I then click Next, it once again warns me about having selected a Steam folder, with the same behavior as before.
Any suggestions?
-- EDIT --
I've uninstalled the game from my Steam library and tried again. This time it did not change the location anymore. Seeing as this was one of the suggestions from the install document, I suppose it's the best way to go. But it might still be a bug in the installer or it should be highlighted more in the install document.
